Horses don't love it but they don't hate it either. No fight getting them to take it.

OTC Jug is a great option to get electrolytes and minerals into your horse quickly. I typically reserve it for those hot summer months when I've had a more intense ride on my horse(s), trailering, or if they're not drinking as much as I'd like. With most paste products horses aren't going to be the biggest fans, but I've experienced this being one of the better accepted paste electrolytes. Gatorade also works.

I have a senior Morgan with Cushings disease so it's important to keep him hydrated. He didn't like it when we put powdered electrolytes in his food. OTC Jug makes it a snap to make sure he gets his electrolytes and keep him drinking plenty of water, especially during cold weather.

This product was recommended by a friend whose horse colics easily. As my horse gets older he colics more easily when the weather changes. I'm a lot more confident that my horse is drinking plenty of water when I give him this product. The product isn't cheap but I think I've avoided calls to the vet!

I bought this to try for my horse that sweats a ton. He was a bit dehydrated earlier this week. I gave him about 1/4 of the tube before I rode and some more afterward. I expected the brown, goopy mess that is OTC Jug to cause problems, but my horse seemed to like it quite a bit. I would definitely buy it again.

Great product to keep in your trailer/tack box. I only used 1/3 of the tube at a time (large pony) and found it worked very well to maintain hydration and energy during our grueling Gulf Coast summer. Very pleased.

I keep this on hand when hauling. We travel 22hrs annually for our National show in the heat of mid-summer. I've seen ponies who look sick or tired or colicky make almost an immediate improvement after a dose of OTC JUG.

I love this product. I ride to the hounds and my field hunter works hard during the hunt. I had an huntsman from England tell me that after every hunt he gave his hunt horse a bran mash with Guinness. He never had a horse colic. I did that but at my current boarding place she does not allow me to do that. This product was recommended by a friend and I love it. I give to my hunter when we get back to the trailer. He actually looks forward to it. It encourages him to drink some water after the hunt. I found that the one time I forgot the Jug (never again) - he would not drink till he got home. I never had my horse colic after a hunt when I used this product. I also use is after trail rides and hot weather. I live in Virginia and it get hot and humid in the summer, I keep plenty of OTC Jugs in my tack box and truck. My horse does not like electroycles in his feed even apple flavored - he just will not eat it - the OTC Jug is a blessing. I would never use a different product.

OTC Jug to the rescue!

July 25, 2006
ByJ. Miller
fromHouston, Texas
This product is an absolute MUST in the Houston climate, and I'd encourage anyone living in hot, humid areas to keep a tube on hand. One of my young horses played himself sick in the pasture last summer and came in with heat exhaustion. He collapsed in a heap and refused to get up. Within 20 minutes of administering the OTC Jug, he was back on his feet and wanting to play again. I've administered it to horses acting colicky (but with healthy gut sounds) when cold fronts blew in, and the results have been similar. They brighten immediately, and within the hour, you'd never know there'd been an issue. The paste is thick and goopy, and you'll probably end up wearing some of it... but it's worth it! My horses and I highly recommend the product.
