This stock tie is a great solution for eventers running around trying to outfit themselves and their horse as quickly and professionally as possible. It looks good, velcroes on without a hitch, and stays put with a stock pin. An inexpensive way to get the job done!

This stock tie is very impressive in the box - simple and elegant. The fabric is lightweight and has a great look to it. It was very easy to Velcro on and stays put. However after one test, the top of the stock tie is already pilling. The fibers are pulling off a little bit which was unfortunate to see. I trimmed them and will keep using this tie - judges can't see the pilling- but I am not sure how long this tie will hold up.

Not What I Was Expecting

I ordered this stock tie based on the previous reviews as well as the product description. When it arrived, I was shocked that it didn't even come close to approaching what I was expecting in terms of quality. This stock tie is billed as being "cotton." Further down in the product description, it is described as a "poly-cotton blend." Because "cotton" figures pretty prominently in 2 places in the description of this product, I assumed that the fabric content would be at least 50% cotton. That can't possibly be the case. In fact, the hand of the fabric is such that I am skeptical that there is, in fact, any cotton in there at all. The fabric is flimsy and very obviously man-made (polyester of some kind). It is also, in my opinion, cheap-looking. Realistically, no-one judging or watching a competition would notice or even see these details (or lack thereof); but it makes a difference to me. As such, I am returning this stock tie and exchanging it for one that is more expensive -- but probably worth the extra money.

Before I review the actual product, let me first say how great customer service is at SmartPak. I had ordered this stock tie for my daughter for an upcoming show, and 2 days before the show it looked as if the stock tie wasn't going to make it in time for the show. This was not Smart Pak's fault; something went wrong with UPS. Anyway, the very kind folks in customer service sent a replacement item overnight at no cost to me. My daughter had the stock tie in time for the show, and it looked great. Thank you SmartPak! Oh, and the stock tie seems to be of good quality and worked well.

My current stock tie was beginning to look a little faded so I thought I'd see if SmartPak had anything new. I never liked some of the other stock ties they carried because they were so thick, heavy and hot. This new item has just the right stiffness but is still light and breathable. Easy for someone showing by themselves to put on and easy to care for. Since I've only used it a few times, I don't know yet how it will hold up over an entire show season (or two) but it looks promising so far.
