"Breeches were a weird, weird fit. Tight in the calves, short, run small. Smartpak's customer service was great to deal with of course, but it was still a pain and a disappointment to have these be such an odd fit and have to return them."

"These are the best possible breeches I could have hoped for. I'm an apple-shaped woman with thin legs in comparison to the rest of my body. If you're a pear these very well may work for you too. I'm certainly not a Yakima apple, as I have a flat rear! But I find these to be not only comfortable but fashionable even with the slightly roomy rear. I don't feel as strange going to the grocery store in these as I do in my regular breeches after my ride. These have a super leg-band at the boot area, allowing for a clean, sleek tucked-in look in riding boots or "about town" boots.
I waited too long and wasted money on my old Irideon Cadence "go-tos" before finally ordering these. And if they don't work,you can always return at no cost.
I thought I'd write this quick review for the other "apples" out there before completing my order for the winter Bradleys."

"I purchased these one size smaller than my summer weight Bradley Breeches, and they fit perfectly. They are warm in 40 degree temps (it hasn't gotten any colder yet), and I love the feel of the material. Pockets are handy, and the length is perfect with jodhpur boots & half chaps. I do NOT find the calf tight, nor does the waist band gap. These are mid-rise, and work fine, ALTHOUGH I wish SmartPak would carry these breeches in a high waist (classic) version. I am 5'7", wear an 18W, and purchased these in a size 40."

"I *really* wanted to like these. I have wanted denim breeches for a couple years, but the Fuller Fillies didn't appeal to me. When I saw SmartPak made these in plus sizes I was excited.
I normally wear a 36 in Ariats, so with SmartPak's great return policy on sized items I ordered a 36 in the regular line and a 38 and 40 in the plus line just to be sure one would fit. I started with the 38 and stopped just above my knees - it clearly wasn't going to fit. The 40 I could almost get on, but it was ugly.
I ordered the 42, and it kind of fits. I wore them to the barn last night under half chaps but didn't ride. They bunched at the back of the knee in an irritating way, and although they weren't too big I had to keep pulling them up. The plus line says they are mid-rise, and I was concerned that would be too high as I am short-waisted. They seemed to fit closer to low-rise. I think the previous reviewer is right, these would be great for "apple" shaped people but not so much "pear" or "hourglass" people.
The denim is thin, which is to be expected with breeches, but it seems slightly delicate. Straight out of the bag mine had a "run" in the fabric on the front of one calf and a slub in the fabric on one thigh. Not a huge deal, but not perfect.
The color is very dark blue, which is both good and bad. Good in that it is flattering, bad in that it shows everything and doesn't look great with black.
I'm going to try washing these and putting them on when they are still wet to see if that will make a difference in the fit."

"I tried the regular Bradley breeches, and they fit like those. I was hoping for a more forgiving fit, but the calves are SMALL and there is no room for hips. I wear a size 34 in Trainer's Choice and 36 Tailored Sportsman, and I had to go up to a 42 for these to fit my bum. The waist is too big at that size. I am incredibly bummed as there are no cute denim riding breeches to fit me. They seem well made, but they are a touch long (and I have a medium/long inseam). I would recommend them for my "apple" shaped friends. Smartpak, Please make the same breeches for hippy girls!"
