I've used Troxel in the past for my every day schooling helmet and this one with the cinchfit is very comfortable. The round fit doesn't leave the red mark on my forehead and the low profile is a nice look. Would recommend to a friend and did just this when my instructor commented that she liked the helmet. Always a pleasure to work with the folks at Smartpak.
Thanks

Had to return as it is more for a "round" head, and my head is more "oval". Looked like a GREAT, well made helmet, however!
My suggestion would be that these types of "fit" might be included in general descriptions so that people don't have to buy, try and return so many times.

I tried two other brands of helmets for a replacement of my 6 year old Troxel helmet and they just did not fit well so when Troxel finally came out with an updated style I ordered the same size as my old helmet and sure enough it fit perfectly and love the modern low profile look.

After seeing show helmets running from $500 to $900--at that price I couldn't afford to replace my helmet every five years, as recommended--I bought this one. It's not too blingy, but also not too plain. In order to make it look like a much more expensive helmet, I added some faux crocodile leather on both sides of the front center. It only took an afternoon to do, and turned out great. Now I have a sensibly-priced helmet that looks like it cost more. Since it's from Troxel I know it's safe, and now it looks flashier! I only gave it three stars for durability because I just got it and have not shown in it.

I've had several Troxel helmets over the years, and the Avalon is by far my favorite. Not only does the Avalon look great on, but It. Just. Fits! The Cinch -fit system is fantastic and is SO comfortable. I was very impressed with this helmet from the first time that I rode in it, and I loved that it stayed perfectly in place --it didn't slip or move at all during my ride! Stylish and fits great! I highly recommend the Avalon! Will definitely be wearing this to shows as well.

This is a VERY comfortable helmet. Got it Monday and have shown in it the last two days. Can't comment on durability having only had it a week but seems as durable as any other helmet. Loved the price too!

I bought this helmet for my 8 yo daughter after reading reviews that it fit "round" heads. After trying 3 or 4 helmets without any luck, I struck gold with this one. Her head is between oval and round, which made it really hard to find a helmet that fit, without being too big. I took a chance and ordered the Large because she was right on the cusp, and with a thicker pad at the back this helmet is secure. It doesn't shake off to one side or the other, or tip up off her forehead. And, although I was definitely looking for function over style, this helmet has both! Thanks Troxel (and SmartPak for dealing with my returns...)!!

I have only ridden in this helmet a couple of times. It is light weight and fits well. The profile is nice and it looks modern. I needed a new schooling helmet and this was a gift. It is considered a show helmet, we'll see if it holds up to multiple uses per week as a schooling helmet. I have loved all my other Troxel helmets. The cinch fit keeps the helmet from rocking around at all on my head. It is not as 'finished' around the bottom edges as other helmets I have had, but again, we'll see if it hold up. So far so good.

This is an awesome helmet. I ordered a medium, which is what i usually wear. The cinch fit is elastic, so I can wear the helmet with my hair down, but it still fits when I tuck my hairnet up inside of it. My head sweats a ridiculous amount, and the vents on this do a good job of keeping my head cool. It's a lightweight helmet, but very sturdy and the outside is strong and easy to keep clean. When I first ordered it, I wasn't sure how it would look from the picture on here. The visor is a little bit longer than it seems in the picture, so it's more like a normal length visor, which I like and I ended up really liking the way the helmet looks. I looked at a lot of helmets, and this was the best combination of comfort, quality and style for the price it's set at.

Okay, I'm not going to lie -- when I thought about Troxels I always thought about something that looked like a bike helmet. I thought you;'d never catch me in a Troxel.
Then I saw the Avalon in an ad on the Chronicle and I was intrigued. It looked -- dare I say it -- classy and EXPENSIVE!
I show in an AYR8 and used to school in a JR8 (because I like my schooling helmets to be cheap enough that I'd actually replace them if I fell off on my head!) but the JR8 was just too hot in the summer. Everyone suggested the GPA Speed Air, but I knew I wasn't going to spend that much money on a schooling helmet, and I wasn't going to show in a Speed Air; I don't ride well enough to pull off something nontraditional in the hunter ring.
So I got it and I love it! I got the size medium, usually wear a 7 1/8, and it's really REALLY nice.
As soon as I walked into the ring, another girl at my barn asked what it was and was shocked when I said that it was a Troxel, and was even more shocked when I said it was only $150.
Anyway, she tried it on (usually wear a 7 1/4) and is probably going to buy one, too, to school in instead of a GPA Speed Air.
So I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good price on a classy, well ventilated helmet that looks way more expensive than it really is.
Oh, and the "cinch fit" is definitely NOT the same as "dial fit." I am not a fan of cinch fit. Also, I wear my hair up and it works great. The chunk on the back looks like the Speed Air actually helps to lock in place the base of my ponytail.

I have a very, very round head. As in bowling ball. My husband has an extreme oval head. This helmet actually fits both of us! I have always had to do some "creative padding" to make helmets work for me - usually they're too tight in the temples and too roomy fore and aft. Usually I end up ordering a size too large so that it doesn't pinch in the temples and then pad creatively in the forehead and back region to make things work for me - not ideal. The way this helmet's system works is that it has an elasticated band on either side of the adjustment piece, which can be snapped tighter or looser. The elastic lets it not get too tight on the head. I once again ordered a size too large, but snapped on the tightest setting works great for now, and if the elastic gets loose in the future, I can pull the elastic through, snap it on the tightest setting, and make it really snug. I can also make it looser so I can stuff my ponytail up underneath - the elastic keeps things comfortable. My husband with the long oval head says that it's a tad tight fore and aft, but it could work for him - again, he's an extreme oval, so those people with oval heads would probably be fine. I have no idea how it will hold up over time, but it seems like it will fit a large variety of head sizes. Nice helmet - wish Smartpak carried the less-expensive models, as I think this one is a tad over-priced.
