Yes the vest does run large. BUT. It is fully adjustable, which is great. The pad is really thick and looks like it could take a beating. I really never want to purchase another vest again, this looks like one that could last a lifetime.

Out of the box I was impressed. It looked much nicer than the picture. I ordered a size 3 standard. My measurements fell in the middle of the size range, but with the vest as small as possible it still wasn't snug. It was also a bit too long in the back. The back is very stiff and was a bit uncomfortable where it hit my lower back. Also the lower velcro strap was hard to tighten because it fastened behind the back. I probably would have kept it if it was smaller but I have to say I liked my friend's Airowear much better.
