"My horse lives in pasture and is very very playful. I put the fly mask on ( he looked very handsome and it fit very well) the next day I found it shredded to bits on the ground. Excellent fly mask, just my horse thinks he's funny"

"I think these fly masks are the best ones, I like that it has an opening for the forelock (also handy for hanging up), and the mesh is sturdy so it doesn't fall in on my horses' face - stays away from his eyes unlike the fabric type masks that have no structure. I got the Cob size for my slender TB."

"Bought this fly mask because of high reviews. The first day I put it on my horse it ripped all around Velcro. I did not have it on too tight. The material is just not very durable. Very disappointed!"

"I am really pleased with this fly mask. The fabric is super soft and breathable-way outshines the Farnam Supermasks that I used to have. And it looks really nice with his name embroidered on the nose!"

"I just recently had to trash my old (over 7 years old) Cashel mask, and order new ones for my two geldings a week ago. I love how these masks fit, never rub and are the only ones that my boys don't try to tear off in the middle of the field (because nothing beats searching for a fly mask in a 10 acre field). Add that SmartPak will embroider them with my horses names is icing on the cake. This will make it much easier for my neighbors to know who is who whenever they need to come down to feed my horses out in the pasture. I'm looking forward to many more years of use with these wonderful masks!"

"I bought this fly mask (with ears, of course!) for my new horse. I still had an old leftover Absorbine SuperMask? from an old mount but decided to keep it as an emergency backup. When I ordered, I decided to use the Barn Saver Shipping to get free monogramming (purple thread for my girl). It came out wonderfully!
My mare seems comfortable wearing it all day, completely protects her ears and eyes.
A great value (especially with the free monogramming!)

"I was happy to learn that this fly mask is a available in Draft size ordered one right away for my spotted draft mare. She has blue eyes and pink skin that is very sensitive to the sunlight, making her susceptible to problems related to UV exposure, even in winter, and especially with the reflection of sunlight off the snow. I had a fly mask for her that gave her good coverage, but it would not stay on. It was good practice putting it back on her every day, getting her used to more handling, as one of my rescues, but it was not giving her very good protection from the sun every time it would get rubbed off. Cashel gives detailed measurements for choosing the correct size, but i was in a hurry, so i just ordered the draft size. Smartpak was very helpful in allowing me to return the draft size flymask and send me the Warmblood size, which fits her perfectly. She is not full draft, but a cross, so that makes sense that that would be the right size for her. It has never fallen off and she doesn't mind it one bit. She has had it on for several weeks now and there is no sign of wear. Occasionally, I reach my hand inside to pop the eye darts back out if she has dented them in by rubbing her head on her boyfriend's butt. Other than that, no problems. We are both happy with the purchase. I got the standard no ears version for now, which is very affordable at only $20, and figured I could upgrade to the ears and/or long nose if needed as we move into warmer seasons. It is still winter here in Minnesota on April 22nd. I looked at other flymasks and sun visors online that promise higher levels of UV protection, but decided that, again, if they don't stay on, they don't do much good, and I know that the Cashel Crusader has a good reputation for excellent fit, and I have been thoroughly satisfied. I have seen some where the mesh has started to separate near a seam, but I have seen this on other fly masks as well, and is usually a result of overtightening the velcro on the jowls. It is not necessary to overtighten, on any fly mask, and on those without elastic, can make horses uncomfortable and can be a prime reason for them working to get them off. The Cashel Crusader has elastic, so that helps keep the horse comfortable so that it does not restrict the movement of the jaw or hopefully cause any rubs, and also can be kept snug enough so that it will stay on!"

"Let me just preface by saying that my horse has had no experience with wearing a fly mask. I purchased the version with the ears, thinking "why not?". It was easy to put on and he had no real objection to wearing it initially, and fit well on his huge warmblood head. Unfortunately, I have learned that he is an escape artist, and he has never kept it on for longer than a few hours. I can however attest to its durability, because its been trampled into the mud, rubbed onto a tree, and has not seen any more damage other than just being filthy. I do regret not getting the embroidery done via Smartpak, because it would have been so much cuter than my Sharpie job."

"I really liked this mask- used last season & needed another because the side came apart- unraveled from the seam. It stays on and the velcro is extra strength- it did rub a little on the tips of his ears though. Overall, it lasted one season & I liked it enough to reorder for this coming summer."

"Fits very well and is sturdy. My first Crusader lasted a few years, thought I would try something different this time and bought a Kensington fly mask. That fit extremely awkward, too big in some places and too small in others so I returned the Kensington and ordered another Crusader. All is well:)"

"I not only love the light weight of this flymask but also the light color, especially in So Cal where it gets pretty warm and darker masks hold in a lot of heat! The double velcro holds well and it can be easily hosed clean and dries fast! The extra touch of embroidering the name is wonderful, especially when you never know where it may end up!"

"This appears to be a really nice fly mask. I just started using it a couple of weeks ago so will hold judgment on durability, but it appears well made. I did have to send the first one back because it was too big on my rather small Quarter Horse reiner. I exchanged the standard horse size for the small horse/Arab and it is fine. He does have a small head for a QH."
