"I ordered these spurs because of the brand's reputation for quality, and I'm happy to say they're just as nice as I'd hoped. Should I ever need a different length or type, I'll look to Herm Sprenger first.
They're lightweight (but still feel well made and durable) so I hardly notice they're on. The pony I ride, however, DOES notice, and that's all for the good.
I'm an Anxious Adult and have been getting along well with my lesson barn's Pony of the Americas...except when it came to the canter. Instead of going into it, she'd go into a super-fast trot that no amount of crop-waving, side-thumping, or calls of "canter! canter!" would change. It wasn't helping my anxiety, and I was feeling frustrated and "down" on myself. My instructor (who could get a canter without any fuss whatsoever) pointed out that because my legs are long, I was having to reach up with my heels to get them on the pony's sides. Thanks to the length of these spurs, I can make contact without upsetting my position. Since I've worn them, we've had nothing but immediate canter transitions. I don't feel as if I'm jabbing--rather, the spurs help to clarify my cue and, because I'm not having to raise my whole foot to make contact, I feel secure and therefore more confident in my "ask."
These aren't the right spurs for everyone, given their length, but for this rider on that pony, they're just right."

"As you would expect from HS, these spur are a good quality item. Solid! My horse gets a message, but not too harsh, even when they are really pointed inward. This pair was particularly useful during the hair-losing season, when my horse has more sensitive skin until his winter coat sets in."
