It was time to get a new turnout for my beastly draft cross. She is only 16hh, but is extremely broad. I have had a really hard time finding a blanket that fits her through the shoulders. Some other things I was keeping in mind while shopping was the fact that she is a larger draft and I didn't want anything super heavy duty weight because she does produce a lot of body heat. However, knowing I was going to clip her and with New England weather being so funky I knew it could be 65 and beautiful one day and 20 and snowing the next, so I did know she needed something solid. Layering seemed to be the way to go and that’s when I started looking at the smartpak options.
As always smartpak had these blankets at my door the very next afternoon! I immediately put them on my mare to see how they fit. She usually wears an 86", so the 87" is a tidge too long through her back, but it fits her great in her shoulders and she really has great movement. I have had them now for 2 months and have been able to throw the TO blanket on her in the cool temps, when the temps dropped a bit more, layer the stable sheet... and for a few nights where the temps dropped into the teens and she was outside I put on all three. They work wonderfully together and all stay put and really fit together!
Some people have commented that they wished all 3 were waterproof, but that defeats the purpose of layering and being able to adjust the “heavy-ness” of your blankets. As I stated above, sometimes I use all 3, sometimes just the TO blanket, sometimes the stable blanket and the TO blanket. It is really really nice to have that much control. As long as the TO blanket is on top, you are set to go!
There are just 3 small little things I would change if I could. First are front clips instead of buckles (easy enough to change with converters). Second the leg straps lose their elasticity very quickly (only had them for a few months now) and become extremely long. (Again, replacement leg straps are super cheap and easy to do). Lastly the D-rings for the leg straps are set lower in these blankets then in ones I have had previously and I can see the potential for her to get tangled up a bit if she was to curl up in her shavings at night.
Overall wonderful blankets and I am very pleased with them!

Love the quality and the fit. Definitely worth paying a little more for something I know is going to last. These blankets fit great too, I love how high it is around my mare's neck. Its does not droop or constrict her movement at all. Overall- great buy!

I received these blankets last month for my horse. I ordered them because of their great price and I believe that SmartPak has a very high quality product. These blankets are gorgeous. They are made of a very good quality material. I chose the monogram option, and the monogram turned out beautifully. My horse is a size 78, and the blankets seem to run a little small. Not small enough to return them, but they do run a little small. Overall, I am very happy with this product!!

I bought this blanket set a few weeks ago for my horse (TB-78) and they fit very nicely. The blanket brushes off easily, and you can layer the stable blanket and turnout for colder weather (take the back straps off the stable blanket). I have not used the sheet yet, but all of the blankets look nice and very well made for the price. Unfortunately only one blanket is water proof, but I haven't had a big problem with that. I can't say much for durability, but my horse had the same blanket (used) when I got him and it seemed to be holding up very well. Overall, I am very happy with these blankets and SmartPak.

Overall, it's good quality. The only thing that would make this better is if the stable blanket was also water proof and breathable, as well. Seems odd that only the 220 fill, the turn out, is the only water proof and breathable blanket. The makers didn't take into consideration that people who buy these blankets might have their horses in mare motels, and therefore need that extra weighted blanket to also be weather proofed. Oh well. They are nice blankets though.
