I have used Betadine solution for many years, and it is definitely one of my go-to products for minor wound care. Every time I see a scrape or cut, I pull out a bottle of Betadine, along with a can of AluShield. This is a great product clean out a cut before aerosol bandaging it up - I like to make sure to scrub out cuts, and with Betadine, I know that the job is done right. With 2 youngsters who constantly like to nip & roughhouse when they play, Betadine solution is a must have in my barn first aid kit!

I have a sensitive TB who battled skin issues for a year. The last vet check it was diagnosed as Rain Rot (previous checks were inconclusive). This vet prescribed Betadine Wash/Rinse. I ordered SmartShine Ultra and the Betadine Solution. After 30 days on the SmartShine Ultra I noticed the minor patches were gone, the more aggressive patches were still there. After applying the Betadine Solution to the more aggressive patches for 3 days I am happy to report the Rain Rot is gone! I will continue the SmartShine Ultra as a preventitive due to how soft and shiny his coat has become. The Betadine Solution will be on hand for flare ups.

I know I have dodged a lot of vet bills by having this stuff on hand, I mix it properly for cleaning and I really do believe that this is the #1 reason why my horses don't get an infection if they get injured, excellent stuff!

I heard that straight iodine can sting ): I haven't tried it, but a girl recommended this to me a while back. My gelding came to me with a 3" gash on his chest & 3 gashes on his legs & I always cleaned them with water first and then applied this :) if you apply this first it'll disinfect the wound and then apply an ointment or a spray-bandaid & you're good to go!

I have ruined many pieces of clothing with regular iodine, and have found this to be just as effective without the staining. My main use is for the navel in new born foals, but I like to keep some in a spray bottle for skin issues also.
