Our 5 Year Old horse has ZERO interest in this toy. I had high hopes and the quality of the toy is high. She could care less and the Twister is a dust collector. It was worth a try and may be a hit if your horse loves Lickits or similar products.

My horse loves this. Because of limited turn out space, he is in his stall during the day. He has the ability to reach his head over the half door, and is notorious for grabbing and playing with anything he can reach. I cannot leave blankets, pitch forks, bags of shavings, etc in front of his or his neighbors' doors without him getting ahold of them. When he could no longer find anything outside his stall to play with, he began pulling water buckets, feed tubs and salt licks off the walls. So I decided he needed a toy. The first day this was in his stall I walked in to find him licking away, and he still enjoys it after about a month. He prefers the apple over the mint flavor, but I have not yet given him any others to try. This seemed a bit expensive to me, but I am happy I got it now because he actually plays with it. And I like that it mounts to the wall because a) I don't hit my head on it when I'm cleaning his stall and b) I worry because when I see horses playing with those hanging toys they always seem to have their head and neck in some awkward position I'm sure my chiropractor would cringe at. Overall, a great find!

I bought the Likit Tounge Twister to see if it would distract my mare from cribbing and it does help, she definitely uses it. Unfortunately she goes through the refills in a few days, due to the fact that they don't always stay in the ball.

My horse is on stall rest and to reduce boredom, I purchased the Likit Tongue Twister. He instantly figured out how to eat both little Likits in a single day. He is supposed to be kept occupied and calm while on stall rest. Consuming two Likits that are mostly sugar is counterproductive. This is not the toy for a very intelligent, bored horse, that cannot be turned out to blow off his sugar high. I would not recommend it under these circumstances.

I put this up for my horse at the beginning of winter thinking it would occupy him on those days that were too muddy for turnout. He really seemed to enjoy it ... for a day. After he finished his first likit (within 2 days of mounting the toy), I went out and bought all the flavors - and he never touched the toy again. So I would recommend seeing if your horse is interested in the Likit treats before you invest in this toy.
Other notes:
Set up: Setting it up was kind of a pain. It's hard to mark the wall where you need to drill, so it's hard to line everything up right so that it mounts correctly.
Likit replacement: This is really difficult! Keep a set of pliers on hand because those Likit inserts do NOT want to come out of the ball.
Cost: SmartPak has a great price on this - it's $75 at my local tack shop.

It was ok

The Likit Tongue Twister worked really well for awhile, but then my horse figured out two things. Tthe first was a way to keep the ball still long enough to eat the Likit in a couple of hours and the second was she figured out someway to dislodge the actual ball from the wall mount. Every time it was empty or there was a Likit flavor she didn't like she would pop the ball out of the holder.

I loved the idea of this Likit tongue twister. My horses love all the other likit products, and I expected the same from this.. however, the likits that you stick in the toy kept falling out, and they wouldnt stay in place! The horses would spin it around, and sure were dissapointed when their favorite banana likit fell to the ground :(

Great Product

My 5 y/o gelding doesn't like toys as a general rule. He has had jolly balls, jolly apples, the lickit that hangs from a rope and numerous salt/mineral licks .... that he ignores. I thought that the tounge twister would suffer the same fate, but when I found it on sale I decided to take a chance. Falcon LOVES this toy. He checks it as soon as he enters his stall and will lick on it and twist it for hours. Falcon's favorite flavor refills are banana, cherry, apple and carrot.

The Tongue Twister Amazing

The Likit Tongue Twister is amazing! My horse is so happy. He finally stopped weaving and waits to eat his grain instead of digging in like it's his last meal. Thank You SmartPak for introducing me and my wonderful horse to this product.
