"Garlic + C has been a worthwhile investment for my 19 year old Paint. In my own opinion, immunity support is the number one priority with an older horse. I spent some time researching different products, and I found the combination of both the vitamin C and garlic to ward off insects to be a desirable combination. The reviews on this product gave the confidence to give Garlic+C a chance. Garlic + C could not be any easier to administer. My personal preference is during morning feeding. Simply peel off the material and dump into the feed. Thankfully my horse is not a fussy eater. The scent of the strong garlic does not phase him, even though it hits you as soon as you open the individual containers.
I can’t speak to much for fly maintenance Even the best of the products on the market fail us in the worst of summers. However, I’m lucky if I’ve pulled 1 tick off of him this year. This product is fantastic for warding all tick varieties. I believe the vitamin C has served him well in building his immune system. Genetics play a roll of course, but the horse never gets sick and I credit a lot of that to the good immune support he’s been receiving through this supplement. SmartPak is dependable and worry free. I never think about my shipment, as for they always arrive on time at the barn every month. The product is reliable, dependable and I feel is a cost saving measure in preserving the life of my most prized and loved possession."
"My mare has been on this for two months and I've seen literally no change. The gnats and no-see'ems are still all over her. We're having a very mild mosquito year due to lack of rain so I can't comment on the effectiveness against mosquitoes, but it doesn't seem to deter anything else. It's also been clumpy in my SmartPaks, which are stored indoors.
I would recommend this for the vitamin C property if you need the boost. Sadly, it's not been any help against the bugs, which is what I was hoping for."

"I thought I was doing a great thing for my horses, less chemicals than fly sprays, etc. But no sooner than I had put my horses on it, my older mare was acting more grumpy than she ever has! Discussing this with a few barn members, Garlic is known to irritate the stomach. I don't eat garlic anymore as I have had stomach irritations from it myself. I should have known. I took them off it right away! And she is back to her normal grumpy self. I would hate to see other horses have stomach problems and ulcers from not knowing this information. The best thing for bug maintenance is fly predators, and birds!"

"I have 2 very thin skinned, sensative TBs who go fly crazy every summer. My mare used to get welts and hives all over from the bug bites, but not any more. I have been using this stuff for 3 summers now, and we love it. It's not a very effective bug deterant by itself when the bugs get real bad, but mixed with good fly spray, and fly sheets, I have noticed a difference. My mare is picky, and my gelding is a pig, but both gladly lick their buckets clean! As well as it works, I don't understand why SmartPak is one of the only places I can get it; although that no longer matters since I have fallen in love with the simplicity, ease, and afforability of SmartPaks!"
"The only downside to this product is that it took a little bit of time to get my horse to eat it. I started with half the recommended serving and eventually worked my way up to the full dosage over a couple of weeks. My horse doesn't mind eating it anymore, and I think it's a very high quality product. It helps somewhat with the bugs in the summer, but I firmly believe it has helped my horse's overall condition. He is a show horse who travels and is therefore presented with many stressful situations, as well as other horses and his health since he has been on it has been great. I really believe that it helps with immunity and garlic and vitamin C both generally are great for all around health. I highly recommend this product although if your horse is a picky eater this might not be the right choice for you."

"Being a crazy environmentalist I hated using chemical fly sprays. I was also often concerned by the warnings on most of such fly spray bottles. I don't see how I shouldn't get it on myself but it's O.K. to spray that stuff on my horse? So, I decided to try garlic as a healthy, environmentally friendly alternative. I have been using the garlic+vit. c for only a couple of weeks now so I think it is too soon to tell if it will work. However, my horse has no problem eating the garlic on her feed, which was my main concern, and garlc is so healthy I won't mind feeding it to her even if it doesn't help keep the insects away."

"My horse has a lot of allergies, including fly spray, so I needed to try a supplement that was pure and was well reviewed. My gelding has been taking the supplement for about 2 weeks. He is tolerating it well and cleaning it up when it is sprinkled on just a little bit of hay pellets. It is not fly season yet, so I can't rate it's repellent properties. I can say that my horse and his droppings do not reek of garlic, he seems bright eyed and bushy tailed and his allergies seem better. I will update once fly season starts to see if the repellant properties work on him."

"I started using this product on a horse I had who tended to abscess frequently, in an effort to treat the infection internally as opposed to topically. It is a great all around supplement: antibacterial, antioxidents, feed through fly control, immune booster. The only downside is that it does take the horses a little while to get used to the taste, so I started with a little sprinkle and worked up to the suggested daily dose."

"I really like this product. It is my second fly season using this. I lived in New York and the bugs were a pain but once I began using the Garlic, my horse seemed happier and was less annoyed by the bugs. Now I live in Virginia and I can say the product has proved its worth. Next move to North Carolina will be using again and again"

"This supplement smells when you put it in feed, but it won't make your horse's breath smell like an Italian restaurant! My horse ate this supplement no problem-and he is definetely one that will sift his feed if he doesn't like something I put in it. I like the general health benefits provided by garli + c-my horse's coat has never looked better!"
