"Have used this product for more than five yrs. for melanoma on my grey arab mare. the lesions shrivel up and go away. I drop the tablets in a small amt of water (1-2 tsp) a few minutes before feeding time. Then I add a couple spoonfuls of applesauce and mix it with her feed and she gobbles it up."

"I use this product to shrink the tumors that have grown on my grey horse. It seems to have slowed the progression of the tumors and Smart Pak has the medication in a powder form which honestly saves my life! Before this I had to grind each individual pill and had to pay much more to get it directly from the vet. Just have your vet call in the prescription to Smart Pak and it will make your life so much easier!"

"My mare has been on Cimetidine pills for just about 2 years now to suppress melanoma growth. Not only have the pills been easy to feed, but they have worked - her melanomas have certainly slowed in growth, if not stopped entirely. I'm very pleased with this product - its one drawback is the fact that the pills are light sensitive, so setting up portions ahead of time is a bit of a concern. At first I crushed the pills and put them over my mare's feed, but now she eats them whole without issue. Plus, they're relatively inexpensive, as far as medicines go."

"The powder has been great- used the pills for 5 years and the crushing was a pain and the taste was very bitter. My mare now eats this with no hesitancy. BUT PLEASE PROVIDE IT IN BUCKETS. The smark-paks create a lot of plastic waste!!! The buckets can be reused around the barn and at home!"

"I only gave a 3 stars in the overall review because if you want the powder form you are obliged to buy it in the smartpak packaging which is more expensive of course. I have to crush the pills each day which is not easy. Beside this , this product has been extraordinary for my grey horse, his tumors stopped growing and no more ulcer problems."

"Great product; helped my rescued TB with his ulcers. Without it he is extremely anxious/ his stools are liquid/stops eating/ hard to maintain weight.
I also add a scoop of Uguard and he has never been so healthy/ happy /eats all his feed. what a difference.

"My 14yo TB mare has been on anti-inflamitories and pain management for several years due to damage/injuries from too hard use too young. (She has been retired for 3 1/2 years now as a result after her 2nd and last ever baby was born.) The Cimetidine does a good job of protecting her from harmful digestive problems. I grind up the tablets along with her other meds in a coffee grinder and add to a small amount of soaked beet pulp pellets. She eats this concoction readily every evening - amazing for a picky eater.
The only complaint I have is that the 400mg tablets have a child proof cap - which makes it difficult for me to open. Strange that the smaller dose comes that way yet the 800mg does not...Would like for both sizes to come with regular caps!"

"Cimetidine has a very strong flavor that does not appeal to most horses. I tried the peppermint-flavored version, which seems to help. Does my horse lap it up like real peppermints? No, but she will eat it if mixed into her mash or grain."
