I'm tall and was able to get an exellent fit due to availability of multiple sizes in leg length and calf width. Easy to zip down. The leather is supple. They fit like a glove. Have only had them for a few months, so not sure about durability.

I really like the look of this style, with snaps at the top and bottom. The leather is quite supple, and the stretchy panel really does help them fit nicely without being too bulky or too tight. I am a little concerned about the zipper track, as it's made of plastic, but so far I haven't had a problem. And sadly, even though Ireland is associated with the Tredstep name, they are actually made in India. Hopefully I will get a few years use out of them.

Like commented below, you'll definitely need a friend to help you get these on the first 2 times you wear them, after it's been great.
So far can't really speak on durability, only have had for a couple of months, but has been good so far.
The only annoying thing is spurs are hard to go on a little, but I do have that trouble with all 1/2 chaps

For everyday schooling, I prefer half chaps to save my more expensive tall boots. (My last few pairs of half chaps have been Ariats-also great, but the snaps seem to break before too long). According to other reviews of this product, the snaps can also be an issue with these as well....so I did take to heart somebody's suggestion to use a little oil on the snaps, so they don't stick so tight. I have wide calves, but these fit great from the get-go. They are extremely comfortable and look great! In fact, they fit about as well as custom would (amazing with my conformation)! As to durability, I cannot really comment yet since I've only had them about a month. The only thing that might improve them is to have a tad more padding or depth of leather on the area which has contact with the tack (as Ariat's do). However, there is more "feel". They fit great with my Ariat paddocks and match. If these last awhile, they will likely be my go-to brand to replace in the future.

I really like these half chaps. They are true to size and the leather is nice. The other reviews are correct that the bottom buttons stick and are hard to get off. I just don't use them. I still like these more than any other half chaps I ever had.

I bought these half chaps about 4 months ago and I love them. My old half chaps were synthetic and looking ratty so I decided to splurge for the nicer ones. I have very short calfs so I really appreciated all of the sizing options. I could barely get them on when I bought them but after a month or so they stretched out and now they fit like a glove. They are very grippy and look great with my Tredstep paddock boots. They are super easy to clean and the leather is worth the money. I'm so glad I bought them!

My 10 year old needed chaps for a better grip on her horse, but her calves are SO thin, we had a hard time finding chaps that were small enough but also tall enough. She's thin AND tall! The Tredstep chaps fit her great. They're just starting to wear in and stretch a little which makes them fit like a glove. We'd definitely buy these again, even given the higher price.

I've had these for the past 5 or so years. They finally started to rip a little along the seam at the heel. Tried a new version of these and the G2 ones and ended up going with the others, but these are still great chaps.
My main "complaint" was that the part over the top of the boots in the front is a little bit big, so wearing spurs over them isn't as tidy as with the G2 ones. But I wore them for 5 years & just put my spurs under the chaps - not a big deal (unless I wanted to remove the spurs while riding).
Overall, these are nice looking, durable chaps.

Hey, my nickname was decided in a moment of silliness. Makes me laugh every stinkin time I see it. I know it dashes my credibility, but I can't seem to change it. Sorry, readers.

I have always worn the suede TredStep half chaps. I tried the fancier leather chaps that zip up the back and hated them. SmartPak was great about letting me return them and suggested I try these. These are a great fit although they did stretch a lot. They are easy to put on and look very nice. I ride a lot of different horses in many different saddles and these feel great, not slippery at all.

I'm very happy with these 1/2 chaps. The only reason I gave them a 4 star on durability is because I don't really know yet. I've only had them for a few weeks. I do love that they are very supple and fit very well. They mold to my leg. They look really great too.

These chaps were recommended to me by a friend after my (much more expensive) custom half-chaps became too stretched out and I love them! I prefer their stretch leather panel over the custom leather that I had become accustomed to - they fit like a glove no matter what I wear under them! I've been schooling in them regularly for 3 months now and they still look brand new. I did order an extra 1" taller than my leg measures, which improved the already awesome fit. I'd definitely recommend these!!

I really like these half chaps. They are good quality leather but they have that stretchy element to them that is really nice. The bottom button on each half chap does stick a little so I have been leaving them undone and only fasten them when it is necessary. I can't really rate the durability as I have only had them about a month but my friend has the same ones and she has had them for years. Overall they are a really nice product.

I cannot speak to the durability of this item as I've just received it, but these half chaps look like they'll last. The leather is strong and supple, the stitching is even, and the YKK zippers are very heavy duty. I ordered according to the measurement chart and they fit really well - tight enough and tall enough that they should be perfect once they break in. With the trim fit around the ankle and the high-cut tops, they look very elegant as far as half-chaps go.

My ariat stable half chaps kept getting worn out and I'd have to buy a new pair every year so I decided to try something else. I love how customizable the size is (picking width and height). I've gotten a lot of complements on them and the snaps make them looks really chic. My only complaint is that the bottom snaps come unsnapped. I've been wearing them this winter and haven't gotten cold wearing them over my thermal breeches.
