"Maybe I feel like these weren't as bad as the ratings indicated because I went in prepared. I threw them in hot water for 5 minutes and grabbed a hoofpick. They were softened (not a ton, but enough) from the hot water, and I managed to crank them on in less than 5 minutes. Works for me!"

"I was very careful when trying to put these stoppers on my reins, but it still ended in disaster. It took me almost an hour to work the first stopper over the leather keeper on my one rein, and still, the stopper split wide open. The rubber is very rigid and doesn't give enough to allow the hole to stretch over the reins, so it cracks and splits. Very disappointing."

"I bought these when we switched my jumper to a running martaingale. They were stiff and not flexible at all. It took forever to get them on my reins and they ripped in the process. I went out and bought new ones that were flexible and didn't rip when they were put on. We literally hd to use a hoof pick and pull them onto my reins. I would most likely never buy these agin since they were soooooo stiff. They did there job, but they ripped and shouldn't have. I broke 2 of them before I bought new ones."

"I haven't had a chance to put these stoppers on my reins. I have to put them over the hook and eye at the beginning of the rein since mine don't unbuckle. The rubber seems stiff..so i'll try soaking it in warm water before trying to get them on. Sorry I don't have more to say..they were priced cheap so even if i dont' use them i'll hold onto them."

"You need to use a crowbar and a well muscled stableboy to get these stoppers on, but they stay all the way up by the bit and don't slide down your reins at all which is always annoying. Worth the purchase!"

"I had read the reviewes that these stoppers were tight, and they were right! IF you can get them on, they are great. I recommend using something to help glide the keepers over the rein. With the help of a friend and two Oster hoof picks, it was much easier. My reins are leather, laced."

"I have now bought several sets of these, and they seem to be very tight and difficult to put on. I even warmed them in hot water before trying to put on my reins, and I ended up breaking 2 of them. At least SmartPak did send a free replacement (yay!), but what a hassle to have to wait another 10 days for one of these! Next time I will try buying from a different vendor - don't know if they're all the same brand or not. If you do buy these, do not force them too hard onto your reins - they will break!"

"These rein stops were much too stiff for me. They didn't slide on at all; much less on my rubber reins then my laced. They held up, being rubber, but they still don't fit. You can do better!"
"I purchased these rein stoppers for my rubber reins. The rubber reins are thicker than most leather reins so making these rein stoppers fit was very tight. Nothing was wrong with the product but next time I would find the softest, stetchiest, most supple pair of rein stoppers to slide over the rubber on my reins."

"Rubber torn immediately while putting on reins that had leather stops. Luckily I purchased 2 pr. since they are very reasonable priced. So all is well."
