"Keeps the saddle in place on a round fjord. Very stiff elastic, so if you are a welter weight it might be hard to tighten. It does seem to be loosening up. Good quality leather, not plush but it is nice if you don't need luxurious leather."

"I needed an anatomic girth for my mare who has a big barrel and the saddle slides forward since she is also mutton withered. I purchased both the Toulouse anatomic girth and the Arc De Triumph anatomic girth so I could compare them side by side and see what the $50 difference in price got me. Right out of the package it was obvious that the Toulouse girth is poor quality. The padding was very hard, (much too hard for a $140 girth) and the overlay leather looked like paper. If you squeezed the sides you could tell that it would chafe a thin skinned horse since the padding did not extend much outside the stiff leather overlay. Although they are shaped similarly the Toulouse girth curved sooner than the ADT girth which would have put it in my big barrel mare's armpit. On the other hand the ADT girth was super soft, padding was nice and squishy, the overlay leather was very nice and the curve was more correct for my mare. Also the uneven elastic made it easy to girth. Spend the extra $50 and get the Arc De Triumph instead. This one is going back."
"My horse is a very wide barreled mare with a well set back, and narrow shoulder. My saddle fits well but has a tendency to sit to far up on her shoulder. This girth has helped keep it where it belongs. Her elbows no longer are interfeared by the girth. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!"

"I ordered this because a saddle fitter recommended it. The saddle naturally sits back on my horse and we thought this would help lessen the front to back tugging on the girth line but it didn't make a difference. My horse was still happier in fleece. That said the quality was good."

"This is the 2nd one of these girths I have purchased. I bought my first one a couple years ago when I was having saddle fit issues with my QH. I eventually replaced his saddle, and recently started using that saddle on my Apply. In the meantime, Mr. QH had gotten a little - shall we say "portly"? - so I bought the next size up for him and now use the original M. Toulouse girth on the Appy.
The first girth is still in excellent shape, even though I don't clean / condition it as often as I probably should. The leather on the outside is really sturdy, and the leather on the horse side is smooth and soft and looks quite comfy. The elastic is sturdy without being too stiff to stretch.
Plus the shape helps keep the saddle from sliding forward (a problem I have had with both my horses)."

"I bought an anatomic girth on the recommendation of my saddle fitter...I liked that this girth was at a reasonable price point, and I was pleased with the quality of the other Toulouse girth I had (linked below). Pros: The chocolate color matched well with my oxblood Black Country Maelstrom. The padding accepts oil well. The stitching appears tight and even. Cons: The leather is not as nice as the leather on the shaped Toulouse girth. The overlay did not accept oil at all. Overall, not as nice as my other girth, but a reasonable choice for someone wanting an anatomic girth without spending an arm and a leg."
"This girth is extremely poor grade leather that is very stiff and makes ripples on the inside against the horse - I would not put this on the toughest skinned horse - the shape is fine"

"I really like this girth! It is made very well and fits great, the anatomic design gives the shoulder tons more room. I got it in chocolate, and I wish it was just a teeny bit darker, but hopefully it'll darken a bit with conditioning. Seems sturdy and it's very affordable."

"When I set out to find a 58" girth for my new horse, I was surprised how hard they were to find. I like the quality of the M. Toulouse girth, and I'm glad it helps keep the saddle back a bit.
I love the Smartpak catalog, and I was thrilled to find what I was looking for there. (Also, the flat rate shipping encouraged me to pick up a few other items I've been wanting.)"

"My biggest (and only) complaint about this girth is that it is horrible to clean. The underside grooves love trapping hair and nothing short of an old tooth brush can really extract it.
Other than that, I would recommend this girth to anyone who has a big shouldered horse or a horse with a girth groove further forward than where the saddle rests. It gives it that extra inch backwards to keep the saddle in the comfortable spot on the horse's back. It doesn't pull the saddle forward like a traditional girth, which can create pressure points on horses with that type of conformation.
Went on a trail ride with my vet, and she liked it because of the freedom it gives the horse's elbow too.
Asked around before I bought, and according to multiple sources, SmartPak has the best deal on this (well, when I bought it anyway).
The Ds on the girth are also great for ground-driving before riding if your horse needs some back-to-basics work in a brief session. Also works with side reins.
Great product, just wish it wasn't a bear to clean ..."
