"My 14-yr old AWS (Oldenburg) gelding has been on SmartCalmUltra only four weeks. He is a talented boy but often spooky and anxious, and gets very pushy when in the barn alone. It seems it took about a week for this supplement to kick in. However, for the last three weeks he has been MUCH easier to catch, bring in, and work alone in the indoor arena. As others have written about Sm Calm Ultra, he is not "slower" or a slug... still produces great energy in work! I am so encouraged! I have gone from being nervous to canter him myself to putting a few students on him."

"I noticed a difference in my 7 y.o. OTTB within a week. He was much calmer under saddle. He still has his flighty moments but not explosive which is good because I did not want a "zombie" horse. My main goal really was to calm him down a bit so I can try to keep weight on him. He is not an easy keeper!! He likes the taste and it smells good also! We had tried a different brand from the feed store but it really had no effect on him at all. This is good stuff!!"

"I have a young horse who was resting an injury for months. He got very disrespectful and out of control. I was even becoming scared to ride him. He would buck and rear up and try to run away with me. I started him on the Smart Calm Ultra powder. I had read the reviews on this and decided the powder was going to get eaten. Even after the very first dose he was calm. I couldn't believe it. I have cut the dose in half though. He was too laid back. He pays attention during our training and listens to me while riding. I have my sweet little horse back! I was ready to sell him before. I am so glad I tried this product!"

"I recently bought a 6 yo Oldenburg mare who had not been fed any supplements and was definitely a little spooky and a lot distracted. I started her on SmartVite and SmartOmega 3 to see if there would be any change in her focus as well as her overall condition. Even though she looked much better overall after just a month on the supplements, I did not see any change in her focus, so I started her on SmartCalm Ultra. I noticed a difference in just 2 weeks and after 2 months of being on SmartCalm Ultra, she is like a different horse!
She is generally a very relaxed and sweet mare. She doesn't have mood swings and has a sweet and curious personality, but when she was being ridden, she could throw scary temper tantrums and was constantly looking at everything outside the ring, looking for excuses to spook, rather than focusing on the work at hand. After using SmartCalm Ultra, she stays focused 95% of the time, and on the rare occasion that she looks at something, it is less likely that she will actually "spook" and it is much easier to get her attention back.
To top it off, she is still as energetic and forward as before, but with more ability to direct her energy towards positive learning.

"This product was one of the two products who came with my spooky horse and I was skeptical about it working because he is that spooky. But after we ran out I did not renew it but ordered a little to keep on hand in case it worked and in the week and half he was off it he was nuts and I put him back on it and he was better. I will never take him off"

"My horse ate the pellets at first...then didn't like them after a few months...I switched to the powder...whech he ate for a few months more...now he doesnt like it . Otherwise the product did help keep the edge off my spook-head gelding."

"This is a great product that I've used for the past six years and it has yet to fail or disappoint me. I highly recommend this product for horses that need help channeling their energy. The two main horses I use this product on are not spooky or headstrong but are young and have more energy than they know what to do with. This supplement doesn't make them drowsy or lazy but it helps them maintain their composer until they can get out and run it off and also helps them concentrate during a work out."

"I know some people think that you should just get another horse if you need to "give it something" to feel safe riding it. Except for an occasional, random spook - a couple of big ones - my horse is fantastic. It seems that this supplement enables him to think a bit before taking major flight. Maybe it's me being more confident, but I think that this has taken the edge off of his spook. I had actually put him up for sale because I didn't feel completely safe riding him. I decided to try the SmartCalm Ultra, and I'm really glad I did. It's been almost 4 months now without an incident.
One of my OTTBs was also on it - he's anxious by nature, gets himself worked up about everything, and can be very hard to deal with in general. He was so much better on the SmartCalm, I have no doubt that it made a huge difference in him. We took him off of it because the young woman who had been (brave enough to be) riding him didn't have time to ride him anymore. Now I feel guilty for taking him off of it because he really seemed so much happier. Now a single fly can send him into a frenzy. I'm seriously considering putting him back on it, even though he's not being ridden and most of the time stays out in the pasture."

"Tried on a worry wart OTTB. I had tried a couple other calming supplements and saw no difference. He is much more focused under saddle, less likely to overact and takes more time to think things through before starting an "argument." He is still the same horse, just as sensitive and forward as he's always been. But it is now working to our benefit instead of exacerbating another problem."

"It is difficult to tell with these products if they are having a real effect. I have an alpha mare who has been given a shot by my vet to take her out of her cycle and on top of that I give her SmartCalm daily. Most of the time (98%) she is calm and easy to work with but when she is aggitated about something none of it appears to make a difference. So when you see these reviews about the dramatic effect this or other products have with a horse, I guess it depends on the horse. For me, I think it may work but when a horse, particularly an alpha, is off they are off and I don't see the product making any difference whatsoever. At least that is my experience with my alpha mare who is a registered AQHA Appendix Mare (part quarter and part thoroughbred). She is also a sorrel with a reddish color and my vet says red horses tend to be that way and I am not sure if she was kidding or serious!!!!!"

"This product should be a staple in any barn that has off the track thoroughbreds. I rehab/rescue and re-train OTTB's only, and they are so extremely mineral deficient when they come from the track, that in addition to a full-spectrum mineral supplement, SmartCalm Ultra gives the added benefits of those missing links in nerve function and behavior modification. While it is slightly expensive, I have found that SmartCalm Ultra has shown to be the most effective in the vast market of calming supplements. I truly believe that each and every rescue group involved in OTTB's should be giving this supplement as part of the adoption or rescue package to transition the horse to it's new life."

"Thought I did a review on this but guess not. I used this for a horse on stall rest and it was great for about the 1st. month or two but then seemed to fade...but please note... she is VERY sensitive and has a ton of energy. The longer her activities were limited the worse she became. I still think it is a great product as each horse will probably respond to different products but I did switch to Relax Blend and it is doing better for her. It smells wonderful and she ate it right up and she can be very picky!"

"The supplement is super palatable, even for my picky eater who usually requires half a bottle of molasses to hide the taste of anything. As for calming, I don't think it's a miracle cure for red headed thoroughbreds but he is slightly less anxious. I would recommend giving it a try."

"I bought this product for a Belgian mare who was just not settling in to her new life with us. She was super nervous and jumpy and we were having trouble catching her. After just one week she was less jumpy and we haven't had trouble catching her sense. She is still going to need a lot of work to get her to be normal but I truly believe this supplement will allow her to calm down and figure out we are not going to hurt her."

"I started feeding Smart Calm Ultra about a month ago to my 12 yo OTTB. Shortly after I ordered it I decided to cancel as I was trying to save a few dollars each month. Well, I'm getting that back on my delivery schedule today!
After about 2 weeks on Smart Calm, my trainer noted how Jet was more focused and seemed to be enjoying his workouts more. It was then that I told her he was on Smart Calm and she was impressed. He seems more confident and not on "alert" as he used to be. This new focus has enabled us to move him from cross rails and single verticles to actually doing courses at 2'3" in just a few weeks. Of course, there's no magic potion and we've been working really hard but starting each session with a sensible mind has truly helped."
