Mattes Girth Cover

"I bought this to help my girthy horse. I purchased the largest size available only to have it be too short for my horse's girth (he's a size 54"). I tried it anyway; it slips off as you are trying to girth up, then as you try to fix it (which is never fun on a girthy horse), it bunches up so you have to make sure that there are no folds in it which is a real pain! To top it off it is VERY thick; which takes at least 3 inches off of the girth length, and you can feel it under your leg as you ride. I only used it about 3 times before washing it because it interfered with my leg position and the feel on the horse.
Overall it is FAR too bulky as a girth cover.
Washing it was also not very successful. I followed the directions and used the Mattes laundry soap, and it still lost an inch in length and the fleece puffed up even more, so it became even MORE bulky! I never used it again and it is just sitting in the bag.
I do not like this girth cover and do not recommend it; this is sad because I really love the Mattes brand and have had good experiences with their half pads.
Steer clear, there are better and less expensive girth covers on the market."
