Tipperary Sportage Helmet
The ASTM-SEI certified New Sportage 8500 from Tipperary includes all of the features that the original Tipperary helmet is most famous for. Listening to riders' feedback they have integrated the original style, fit and ventilation that made it the most comfortable and one of the lightest helmets on the market. Made of lightweight, high density ABS material the Sportage 8500 has superior resistance to high impact. Returning is the functional low profile, drop back shell for increased protection and a secure fit reducing helmet rotation with and the added feature of a reflective band for safer rides in low light conditions. The helmet's ventilation system has increased airflow for a cooler, more comfortable ride. The harness is made of black, soft touch leather with reinforced nylon. Visor is a soft rubberized, low profile flexible visor.&

"My Tipperary Sportage Helmet is the best fit ever… Snug without discomfort. You literally forget you’re wearing it! This helmet ‘cradles’ your head leaving you feel secure from injuries. The lower skull ‘nape area’ coverage is a bonus. This helmet feels weightless on and has a very nice ventilation system of numerous slots…your head stays cool! If you don’t care for the ‘bubble-head’ appearance or fit of other style helmets, this is the perfect choice. If you want a helmet for true protection, Tipperary Sportage Helmet is your best bet!"

"I love this helmet! It's super lightweight, very well-ventilated, and doesn't make my head look like a mushroom. And the price is great! I used a Troxel schooling helmet until I was bucked off and landed on my head, then I purchased the Tipperary. It looks great on, fits well. The added protection in the back is a huge bonus. Mine fits a little bit too snug in the front, but I think I just need to take the time to play with the inserts to get the fit just right. And I love that it comes with a helmet bag!"

"I have had my fair share of falls, and have been through many helmets of different brands. A friend recommended this helmet to me, so I gave it a try.
Let me start by saying that, as a helmet advocate, I have heard every argument against helmets that can be brought up. Tipperary has addressed all of them.
Helmets look big and bulky: Tipperary has streamlined the design of this helmet so that it looks "sporty" and low profile, yet still offers full protection in case of a fall.
Helmets are hot: This helmet has a lot of vents in it. More so than any other helmet that I have ever worn. At a show, I wore this all day in the sun, and my head did not get any hotter than the rest of me. When I took it off, my hair was dry.
Helmets are heavy: This helmet is so light, that there is no feeling of relief when I remove it at the end of my ride. It fits very comfortably, and is significantly lighter than any other helmet that I'm familiar with.
Helmets don't fit my head right: This one was a biggie for me. Helmets were made round, and my head is distinctly oval. Not only is this helmet designed for people with oval heads (which most of us have), but it comes with a wide assortment of padding that can be put in in different places to customize the fit to you.

"I would never have purchased this helmet just by the look of it in the catalog. I am a Charles Owens jockey helmet fan to the end. BUT the fit has changed and now I can not find one in my price range to fit. One of the SmartPak reps suggested I give this helmet a try..It fit perfectly. Also very light weight and tons of ventilation for Florida weather. It seems very well constructed. My only complaint is the harness.. I am having a hard time getting it to adjust evenly. This helmet is excellent for schooling and LOOKs so much better on than in the photo!.and you can not beat the price."

"I could tell right out of the box this was a quality product, it feels substantial, although not heavy, just very well made, this helmet covers more of the back of my head than other helmets. I bought the navy color and it is a DEEP navy color (I almost thought it was black). I have been wearing IRH and thought that was my best fit...but it turns out that I have an oval head and this helmet fits me PERFECTLY. I love the fact that they include foam pieces to help you fit your helmet to your head better. And they include a velcro cover for the under the chin strap to cover the extra strap line and keep it in place. Also included is a helmet bag for protection when not in use. I plan on purchasing the pink color for the Fall during hunting season so I show up better when riding on the trail!"

"I went in search of a helmet after my friend lost her dad due to a head injury after being bucked off his horse.I ordered several different helmets and they were not comfortable at all, I ended up sending them all back. Most helmets that I had tried on made me feel like my head was the weight of a bowling ball. They made me feel off center in the saddle. The Tipperary helmet is so comfortable that I forgot that I even had it on. Really love it!"

"This is the third Tipperary Sportage helmet I've purchased and the only one I will buy in the future. It's the third because I seem to, uh, be accident prone, but on the positive side, I've never gotten a concussion wearing these helmets, nor have they cracked or shown signs of damage unlike other helmets I've purchased (and fallen in). They're cool, lightweight, and attractive, and I love the new tan color."

"I was hesitant to order a helmet online; I have a round head and have found that it can be difficult to find a helmet that fits comfortably. However, after much research (and SmartPak’s wonderful return policy) I decided to purchase the Sportage. My previous helmet was a medium Troxel. I ordered a large in the Sportage because other reviews seemed to indicate it ran small. They were right, the large fits wonderful! I had to change out the back pad in the helmet for a smaller one, but they were all included in the box. I have not had a chance to try it out on a hot summer day, but all the vets make it seem like it would allow a good amount of air circulation."

"I received this helmet from my boyfriend for our anniversary. I've had trouble finding the perfect helmet. While i'm not showing at the moment, I'd like something that doesn't look as flimsy and frail like some of the other non-show helmets. I also wanted something that looked good. It seems like even some of the pricier helmets have a mushroom head appearance.
The sizing was very true, and it fits snug. Living in Florida, breeches, shirts, blankets, EVERYTHING gets super hot, but not this helmet. While it isn't flimsy and too light, it breaths and it is not hot at all. While I haven't fallen or had to test this helmet, it seems very durable and hasn't collected a single scratch during our ventures through the woods.
I would definitely recommend this helmet!"

"this is my second sportage helmet, after a pretty bad fall. i suffered a concusion (normal, don't we all from time to time??) but was told the bruising was so bad, if i hadn't had on a GOOD helmet, i would have hemorraged (spelling). anyway, ordered another. even though it's not the most expensive helmet out there, it saved my life. i'm sold! i'm sure i'll probably have a few more...hopefully not, but more than likely!"
