"My horses love this! Unlike other supplements, I don't have to worry about them not eating this, or wasting the grain I add it to. Smells good enough eat yourself (but don't!). I also use pray and lotion fly/bug repellant. Needless to say, between the 3, my horses are bug free and happy!"

"When I was looking for insect control for my pony I went with this due to the active yeast. His manure was always a bit soft so I figured it might be an added bonus.
He had no problems eating it, he seems to love garlic (takes after his mom) and everyone in the barn wanted to eat him. It defiantly stunk up a 16 stall barn!
Within a week I saw his stool was firmer so the yeast seemed to be working. That was the only change I saw though.
I've had him on it for 4-5 months now and haven't seen a difference with how many bugs are inclined to bite him.
In his case it helps to hide medicine and his other supp that hes not too fond of.
Ive kept him on it due to the digestive benefits, if it wasn't for that it would be a waste.

"I bought this last month, and hesitated to review it untill now. One of my three mares refused to eat her food when this garlic was added to it, or even stirred with the same spoon that I used on the other mares food. AND it didn't seem to work anyway for the mares that did eat it. But, it is working now. IT TAKES A WHILE We have had the most humid, hot summer here in the mountains of Arizona, and the flies have been awful! But I definitly see good results now, I have some days where I don't even put their fly masks on them. And the mare that refused to eat it, is now eating it up too. So be patient with this for the results you want. Oh, just for the the record, the mares do not smell like garlic!"

"First garlic product I have ordered that doesn't reek of garlic - doesn't smell like garlic at all!! I am thinking I didn't get garlic in my smarkpak but I would not order again since I have no idea what is in there. You would think there would be some garlic odor and I have none!! I will go back to another supplier for garlic but not smartpak!"

"Years ago, I used Organic Garlic on all my horses and I trailered my mare to my friend's house to ride with her. I brought fly spray with me, but never did use it. My friend sprayed her horse quite a bit. On our ride, both her and her horse were swatting flies like crazy and me and my horse were very calm - her tail was hardly swishing at all and I wasn't swatting much either (I also was taking garlic). She asked me what spray I use and I told her I didn't even spray her at all - she was dumbfounded! I told her about the garlic. At that time, though, I didn't know about SmartPak and I was buying the buckets and it would get hard and stick together before I used it all up, so I didn't buy any more. Now I am using SmartPaks - the only problem with that is that I can't change the dosage right away if I choose to. I just recently started feeding it again and upped the dosage on one of my horses since he seems to get bitten a whole lot more than the mares and gets lots of welts on his neck, chest and back. He does have less welts than before, though, so hopefully there will be even less (or better yet - none!) on him once he gets the higher dosage. This is his first time on this garlic."

"I have only been using it 2 weeks and I don't know if I have really seen a difference in bug bites yet. I took the horses camping about 1 week after I started using it and the mosquitos were awful on them ( and us). Here at home I'm not seeing any Mosquitos on them, and we live in the woods, but the black flies are driving them nuts. Last night as well as feeding it I actually tried putting it over the bug spray topically. There was some relief but I'm not sure if it was from the garlic or bug spray. Hoping if I use it longer I will see a difference."

"I have a horse that is sensitive to black flies. His previous owner recommended garlic. I compared the prices and this one was a very good value. Plus it's organic. He has had a good amount of relief from the bugs. He does, however, smell like garlic. Small price to pay for the relief. He really would prefer if I did not put "stuff" in his grain but this is not so unpleasant that he won't eat it. It is in powder form so we add some water or vegetable oil so he won't blow it off."

"Works very well as insect repellent. When I first started garlic I could walk down the barn aisle, and see flies on all the horses faces except mine. Now we use flypredators, so the problem is gnats. The garlic seems to help with that as well."

"I'm so glad SmartPak carries Garlic. For years I used it on my extremely sensitive thoroughbred gelding. He would get covered in welts from flies and mosquitos. After the garlic regimen (he was never picky about eating double doses) nothing but the big, big bomber flies could stand being near him, let alone bite him! It helps immensely with the fly population in the manure pile, as well. Now I use it on my German Shepherd to keep the fleas off because he has very sensitive skin and can't handle flea drops. He's less picky about eating, but beware the BREATH!! Your horse will smell like pizza (they sweat it out) and your dog will have garlic breath, but the benefits definitely outweigh the costs.
4 stars overall because the product with diatomaceous earth really rocks out in manure pile performance."
