"It is effective and according to my vet, has less impact on the horse's systems than Dex, the alternative. Skin testing and serum treatment for detected allergies is the long-term solution"

"I had to resort to using Pred for my 31 year old standardbred horse with severe arthritis. My vet had me start out with 1000mg per day and have gradually lowered it to 200mg per day. It sounds like a lot of medicine but it is the only medicine that is reasonably priced and it keeps him going. If he gets worse, I simply up the meds by 80mg a day, and reduce it when he's feeling better. I'm hoping I can reduce it even more after the Ohio weather warms up. Ranitidine helps with tummy upset convenient in SmartPaks."
