"After 3 weeks on this, my horse was picking up this back feet better and was showing better coordination when turning. He was galloping off, bucking and kicking. He was even back to his ornery self pestering me and his pasture mates."

"I am pleased with how well Marquis has worked for my gelding with EPM so far. He was on it for two months and I started noticing subtle improvements within the first week. It's very easy to dose and administer, and doesnt appear to taste bad, at least to my horse. It's definitely worth the cost and seems to have not only stopped the progression of the disease but may have even reversed some of the damage. Only time will tell with that, but so far so good. Plus, Smartpak offers it at about $160 less per box than if you were to get it directly from the manufacturer."

"Yes, the price is a bit of a shock, but compared to the years of service my horse had given me, I didn't even give the price a second thought. After a devastating diagnoses, smartpak had the Marquis at our doorstep in a day ( how conscientious) .My horse was given the full 28 day dose of the Marquis and has made a complete recovery. His hind end has been saved and he has gained back about 70% percent of the weight. Today, no-one beleives me that he had EPM, because of his fantastic recovery. ( knock on wood) He has not relapsed and it has been 10 months since he was diagnosed. I give all credit to this product for saving my horse."

"Although this treatment took 28 days, I was pleased that the Mare did not have any side effects from the treatment and seems to have no permanent neurological effects from the EPM. Mare felt so good after the treatment that she jumped out of her paddock! Her discipline is Eventing and Breed is Holsteiner."

"I needed to start a month dose of Marquis on my Vets recommendation for a possible EPM diagnosis. And getting a horse started right away on the first sign and positive testing is essential for recovery. I ordered the product form Smartpak because not only was it the least cost, but I had full faith and confidence that I would get it in one day and I did. Thank you Smartpak."

"I was very impressed with expediency SmartPak had in getting my order processed and shipped out quickly. My vet had called to inform me my horse had tested positive for EPM around 1 PM that afternoon. He wanted Rocky started on Marquis the next day. I immediately called SmartPak. They assured me that any orders placed prior to 2 PM that day would reach their destination early the next morning. As always, SmartPak came through on their promise!!! I highly recommend SmartPak to future customers."

"My 18 year old Thoroughbred was diagnosed with EPM about a month ago. This is his third week on Marquis and even though it was very pricey, it is well worth it. He has started to show signs of responding to the treatment so I am very pleased. It was expensive but it may be saving my boys life. If your horse has EPM this is the stuff to get and SmartPak has the most reasonable price"

"My Haflinger, Andy was Diagnosed with EPM in Sept 2007. After 60 days on Marquis his recovery was phenomenal. I can still detect over rough trails some slight hind-end weakness, but he is very sound and healthy. Unfortunately because of the nature of the disease he relapsed in April 2009. Researching the disease I found out up to 25% of horses relapse within two years and most of those occur within 12 to 18 months. Andy was right at 18 months. After talking extensively with my vet about the benefits of Marquis vs the compounded medication I again chose Marquis and it was worth it. Andy turned around in 30 days. It is important for the owner to catch the disease early. Do not chalk frequent stumbling or unsteadiness to being clumsy. I did initially and it almost cost me my little man. Now I know what to look for and hope Andy's relapse this spring will be his last:) The cost was steep and could be out of reach for some people. Hopefully as time progresses the price will come down."

"My mare was treated with Marquis for the prescribed period of time. She responded immediately, but relapsed badly after just a few months. I will say that Marquis is easier on the horse than Navigator, which we tried even less successfully a few months after the Marquis. Also tried ReBalance ... that didn't work either. So Marquis was the best of all of them, but only a short term solution for my horse. She is now permanently retired. Unfortunately it's a very expensive experiment."

"Marquis has helped my 34 year old morgan horse with EPM. He has been on it for almost 2 months with no bad side effects. He is now trying to trot at times and his spirit is brighter. I am not sure how long a horse can stay on it but I would like to continue with Marquis for at least another month. The only downside is the cost. He is my best friend and I am not ready for him to go but because of the cost I may have no choice. I hope the makers of Marquis are able to make it more affordable in the near future. If not in time for me, in time for someone else who is about to loose a best friend."

Update on my mare, Magic

"Read previous review. Magic has been on Marquis for 6 months. Will probably continue total 9 months. Prognosis has gone from "poor" to "fair" to "excellent". Magic is galloping 20 to 30 min daily, reinback, counter canter, starting lateral work, trotting small circles, cantering up slight inclines and unlevel ground. I truly believe, if no relapses, that Magic will return to full work. With her powerful, ground-covering stride, I am even hopeful for over fences work and dressage work. This is excellent, especially for a lovely mare we nearly euthanized due to severity of symptoms and extremely poor prognosis!"
Review 13 for Marquis® Antiprotozoal Oral Paste
"Marquis has done an excellent job of stopping the progression of EPM symptoms in my 7 year old mare. Her attitude is bright, appetite returned, major improvement in gait and stability, although definitely not 100%. She is still very thin and gluteal (rump) muscles are atrophied. We're riding her again. We nearly put her down, but now we believe she will definitely be a broodmare, and possibly even a riding horse. We're uncertain how much of her residual damage is weakness and how much is neurologic. The jury is still out on whether she'll make it as a show horse, but we're glad to have her at all!"
