"I use this for my imported 8 yo Oldenburg Gelding that is a chronic colicker, hospitalized 12 times over the past 2 years. I have tried similar products without success. The vets and I were at wits end so I decided to try UltraDigest along with the Equishure and have seen remarkable results. He has made it through the fluctuating temps of spring without colicking which is amazing. He is maintaining weight and is comfortable, which has been difficult to achieve. This is the best digestive product, along with Equishure, that I have tried."

"I started my mare on SmartDigest Ultra about 3 months ago for the ColiCare program and as a substitute for the UGard + Ration Plus combo that I was using. I figured I'd get the perks of ColiCare while saving money.
I have never had a problem getting my mare to eat a supplement, but she HATES this one. I have to mix it with a handful of soaked alfalfa cubes once a day just to get her to eat it. She is on Triple Crown Low Starch, which is a dry pellet, so the powder doesn't stick to it. She would eat her grain and leave the powder in the bottom of her bin, or not eat her grain at all. This is a high-stress TB cross mare whose management must be carefully monitored. She'll lose weight at the drop of a hat, and her not eating her grain was a problem. I started mixing it with applesauce in the beginning just to get the supplement into her, and then came up with the alfalfa cubes idea.
This supplement really needs to be available as a pellet, and not just as a part of SmartCombo Ultra. I don't want to spend $100+ on a single supplement when she has to be on others regardless. Low starch grain, which is better than sweet feed for digestive issues, is almost always a dry pellet. There is nothing for this powdered supplement to stick to.
For the last month, my mare has been on stall rest for an annular ligament injury. She is hand-walked every day, and she has a buddy stalled next to her to keep her company. I have hay in front of her 24/7 in a slow feeder, and her grain portions were reduced. We have done everything to reduce the likelihood of her developing ulcers due to stall rest. She was in a situation with limited turnout in the past with no gastric issues, following the same protocol as we are now. The only changes were the supplement, which I have made sure she ate every day since starting it. If I could give it a 0 for palatability, I would.
She was diagnosed with ulcers this week. She has been very nervous and jumpy; she is picking at her hay; she has lost weight, and her belly is incredibly sensitive, and while we were cleared to start riding at a walk, she bucks at the slightest touch of the leg. I have started the treatment with GastroGard under my vet's supervision. This was the last straw with this supplement. Needless to say, I will be taking my mare off of this supplement and putting her back on UGard and Ration Plus. She is insured anyway (thankfully!)"
"I had recently completed ulcer treatment with my horse and he still seemed sensitive and on the grouchy side (very unlike him). After about 3 weeks on the SmartDigest ultra he is back to his sweet self, calmer, doesn't move away when I try to tack him. And there is a noticeable difference in his stools. He also likes the taste of the pellets!"

"Being the type who always worries about my twice coliced, rescued horse, and someone who keeps extremely busy, once Smokey started on Colic Care I felt a sense of relief. I don't always have to remember to renew my prescription, plus Smokey has not coliced, since. Best of all, should he, we have the option of surgery. Thanks for your honest efforts towards improving horses lives, your product, "insurance" and considering the busy lives of your customers."

"My horse was formerly enrolled with the Continuex daily dewormer colic program until my vet rec. that I stop using daily dewormer (due to threat of resistant parasites). We've had several negative fecals and I now use paste dewormer 2x year. I was thrilled to find another kind of colic coverage with a supplement purchase. My horse used to have a lot of watery discharge in between producing normal formed manure and that is greatly reduced (not gone yet but he's only been on the SmartDigest for a couple of weeks.) I give palatability an average grade because my horse is very suspicious of new tastes and he took several days to start eating SmartDigest. Hang in there if this happens with your horse. Mine eats it fine now. I add a little water to get it to stick to the grain."

"I have a 10 year old gelding that that had an impaction last summer after recovering from that he kept getting bouts of colic for the next 7 or 8 months. I had everything checked except scoping of the stomach. He was in great shape and coat condition was fabulous. I saw the ad for Ultra digest and thought what the heck I am trying it. I have now had my gelding on it for 5 months and not one bout with colic and no bloating. I am so excited that he truly feels better. I can change hays with him and it doesn't bother him like it did before."

"My senior horse Lamplighter lost a lot of weight this winter and was not regaining it as spring came, despite worming, additional grain, etc. Our hay situation was poor over the winter due to the widespread drought. Lamplighter seemed listless, his coat was dull, and he had little energy. On the second day after starting Smart Digest, he whinnied at me in the barn for his dinner. The third day, he pounded on the gate to his stall for dinner. After three weeks, he sprang out of the stall when I opened the gate and galloped out to the herd. He has gained the weight one would expect on his ration and his coat has improved. He is much more cheerful. This may not be a scientific result because we changed other things at the same time -- a new hay dealer, free choice round bales, and feeding his grain separately once a day. Nonetheless, this product seems to have really helped because those other factors hadn't made any difference earlier in the year."

"Ultra made my horses manure balls larger and softer. I presume this would be better for preventing colic. My horse is insulin resistance, so, he has unsweetened feed which made it easy for him to not eat the Ultra. As the feed pellets are dry and not sticky. So, I mixed carrot juice with the ultra and some feed and alfalfa dust. He ate it up."

"I started my young, off the track TB on Smart Digest Ultra after he had gotten an infection from his castration surgery. He lost a lot of weight and wasn't processing his food well. It took him a couple of days to get used to the taste, but he never had any problems from the antibiotics he was on and he seems to be getting the most from his food."

"Gitano had intestinal problems during antibiotic therapy for very deep lacerations from an accident. The SmartDigest Ultra restored balance and health to his intestines. Adds easily to the beet pulp mash he gets every day. Smells great and he seems to love the taste. He is on it all the time because he is an older horse, who needs help to get the most out of his food. We just used extra amounts during his antibiotic therapy. Highly recommend this product."
"I have a 27 year old stallion that I have struggled to keep weight on for the past 3 years. I have tried every thing my vet could suggest without luck. Pic has coliced twice in the last two years. On his last visit, my vet said he had heard about Smart Digest Ultra from a fellow vet, and recommended we try it before we get to a point of having to make some hard choices. I started Pic on this two weeks ago, and he gained 22 lbs the first week and 23 the second week. His stool is now firm apples, and he is prancing around like a pony and calling out for the ladies. The difference is amazing, and now I smile every time I look at him. What a great product."

"I started on Colic Care, of course, to protect my horse. While I don't quite understand what SmartDigest is doing on the inside, I was pleasantly surprised to see what it did to the outside of my horse. His coat is so shiny, smooth and even; it is very hard to describe the difference. He has no problem eating this supplement; I have no problem with him looking fantastic!"

"At first I was skeptical about putting my 14 year old horse, Rocky, on a daily supplement in order to qualify for $7500 in colic surgery reimbursement. I went through the paperwork with a fine tooth comb to try and find the "fine print" that would counteract such an awesome deal.
Well I couldn't find any fine print and on top of the $7500 in colic surgery reimbursement my vet complimented me on what a nice coat Rocky has after such a harsh winter... my friends feed the same hay as me, but without SmartDigest Ultra. After seeing how great Rocky looks they are thinking about putting their own horses on SmartDigest Ultra too."
