SSG Windstopper

The SSG Windstopper is wind and water resistant. It is also breathable - allowing moisture to move away from your hand. The Windstopper fabric is soft and comfortable like a fleece. The close contact fit makes it possible for you to actually tack up without removing your gloves! Adjustable closure at wrist. Imported.

"Finally, I have found an SSG glove that doesn't end up with holes after one season! I have small hands and long fingernails and nearly all my gloves have holes in the tips of the fingers and on the inside of the thumbs (where I hold the reins). These have lasted 3 years, which makes me very happy.
They do stop the wind pretty well but they are NOT warm enough for the really cold days.

"It was pretty cold in CT these past couple of weeks with temps in the teens - but thats no reason not to ride! So while my legs - even in layers, were cold, my hands right down to my finger tips were perfectly cozy wearing these gloves.
The grip is excellent and they are snug fitting so you can handle the reins with subtlety and a deft hand and anything else you need to do with no issues whatsoever. The composition is perfect.
I love these gloves!
And they're GREAT driving gloves too!"

"I bought these gloves a few years ago, and I really like them. They are the only winter gloves I don't mind riding in because they are grippy enough on the palm yet thin enough that I can feel how I'm holding the reins, and there is not extra bulk from reinforcement fabric between the pinky and the ring finger, which I find very uncomfortable on most riding gloves, and none of the seams seem to bother me ;) I also like them for walking the dogs, grooming and anything else you'd do on cold days because, again, you can actually use your fingers in them, unlike in a lot of those extra heavy duty super super warm winter gloves. They've held up in the wash really well, which is great, since they're easy to clean. And the price is reasonable. I also like that they're not so warm that they make my hands sweat. That being said, on the very coldest winter days, if you're not moving around keeping yourself warm, you might need something heavier duty to keep your finger tips warm."

"I do know the difference between the terms water resistant and water proof. These gloves are advertised as water resistant but they don't even come close. The minute I touch even a drop of water it soaks through the glove immediately and my hand (or finger) gets wet instantly. They have done this from the first time I wore them. It almost makes me think there was a manufacturing defect with them. While they are very comfortable and warm enough for above freezing temps, one can find the same thing for about half the price of these gloves. Sizing is not correct either, run small. According to SSG, I should wear a medium for my size 7.5 hand. Mediums were way too small. Larges are on the sloppy side. Overall quite disappointed with this glove. As a rule I typically like SSG gloves."

"These gloves are absolutely fantastic. I am VERY hard on gloves, but these lasted me two winters, when my gloves usually only last 4 months.
When temperatures were in the 30s, they kept my hands warm riding and doing barn chores. They really do prevent cold Michigan winter winds from slicing through.
They are not bulky at all and I can easily tack up and adjust buckles without having to take them off.
These are the perfect gloves for spring and fall and are by far the best pair of gloves I have bought. For the price, they just can't be beat."

"I like these gloves for the "in between" times...when it's too cold for the All Weather gloves, but not yet cold enough for the heavy duty gloves. They fit well, are fairly easy to work with, and seem to hold up well, too. I'd definitely buy another pair."

"These glove appear to be decent quality and the velcro tabs are handy for easy on and off. However, I'm ALWAYS a medium glove (every manufacturer I've ever tried, anyway), with average size hands, average length fingers, and short fingernails, and these gloves fit me very poorly. They're a little baggy across the width of the hand, and the fingers are very short. I kept the gloves, hoping the fingers would stretch out as the gloves break in...no dice. They're very uncomfortable, as the seam in each fingertip wedges itself under each fingernail and pulls every time I move my fingers. Also, even if they DID fit, I still felt they were pricey for what they are."

"These are great gloves! Warmer and thinner than any barn gloves I have, even in windy 9 degrees my fingers stay toasty warm. Thin enough to buckle bridles, change stirrup leather length, latch gates. Not completely waterproof, but a little water doesn't soak through and they dry quickly. Riding wise, a bit slippery on reins, would need more grip on a strong horse. I'm buying another pair."

"They are very comfortable and they fit pretty good so that you can fasten anything you want. Athough I found that the thumbs were alittle long. Other than that they fit great. I drive truck most of the time and in doing so gloves take a beating. So far these have stood up to the abuse. They are not water proof which I was alittle disappointed in."

"I have very cold sensitive hands and feet so a warm glove is very important to me. This glove is comfortable and easy to hold the reins, however, it is not warm enough for me in very cold weather (32 or colder). I can recommend it for 33 or above for us that are cold sensitive."

"I have used these gloves all winter for Barn Chores in MA-very cold! Very happy with the warmth these gloves provide. They dry quickly, and they have also held up well. The fit is loose, so I don't ride in them. Also I found the thumb to be long, but maybe that is just me! I would definitely purchase these again."

"I usually can't wear gloves while tacking up and riding because they feel too bulky. These are fitted enough to make that not an issue, however because of being thin, they are not very warm. Great for chilly fall days, but not winter work. They also say they are water resistant, but they get wet pretty quickly. I love them for chilly days, just not frigid days. Need to find something fitted like them but warmer."
