I have been buying "bute" for my horse for more than five years now - the "12 gram" tube, and this new 20 gram tube is harder to handle, with small hands, the dosing marks are hard to read being smaller, and confusing. I am a RN, and with two numbering systems on the tube, I could see people getting confused and overdosing their horse, plus the marks are so close together, there is more waste (accidently using more product), that the value is going down, and the price went up. Sorry about this review, but the old "12 gram" tube was better, and I am also going to call, and speak to customer service.

I always use the paste because it insures the horse eats all the dose. However, can you tell me why the manufacturer discontinued the apple flavor. My horse takes his dose when needed; however, he prefers the apple flavor.

I know the powders come flavored, why not the paste????

Powder or pill form is definately a much better value. But well worth it if you have a picky horse and beats trying to sneak it into treats or sweet feed and having it end up all over the barn floor and wondering if your horse got any of it.

This is the easiest and fastest to administer if you have a picky eater. Worried about your horse not swallowing the paste? Have a friend stand at your horse's shoulder and give him a firm slap behind the withers to activate his swallowing reflex...a trick I learned when my horse was evaluated for neuro probs at a university.

I have not purchased Bute from Smart Pak. BUT, I looked it up because my regular vet will be retireing one of these days and I had to call the other vet we know of. My regular vet has very fair prices. The vet we will be going to on that fated day is good at what they do, but also pricey! Smart Pak is literally 1/2 the price on medications and supplements! If possible, buy from Smart Pak and save yourself some money!!

I have an older horse who was on daily bute for quite a long time. He did not object to this particular bute, because it is apple-flavored and more palatable. I was also sure that he got his daily dose of paste.

It would be great if there could be a quantity discount on the purchase of these paste tubes!
