"I purchased them in extra long (60") and they are perfect for my big/long 16.3h mare. They are soft, flexible, and a lovely color which blends well with my existing HK Americana and HDR Pro bridles. I was worried that the rubber portion would start too far back, leaving me gripping flat leather if I had to shorten my reins a ton for "giraffe" moments, but they are perfect. The rubber actually starts closer to the bit attachment than on some of my older sets of non-XL reins."

"I have two sets of these in both 60" and 54".
I bought the 54" almost 5 years ago. They were stepped on and the buckle broke, but I punched another hole and they are still going strong. They were hanging in my trailer and the sunlight reflected off of a mirror and burned a hole in them. Thankfully I was standing there as it happened, so I threw them out the door in time to save them. True story! As I said, they're still going strong.
They are soft, flexible, and light, unlike regular rubber reins. I've ridden in the rain with plenty of grip. My only complaint is that the leather is kind of cheap and stiff. After only a few months, sweat bumps appeared all over the leather. I had a difficult time breaking in the hook closures, but they are reinforced with an extra flap of leather which is nice. My newer 60" reins have also just begun to get sweat bumps. I think I've stopped the problem by keeping them in a bridle bag - fingers crossed. My expensive leather reins don't have that problem.
The rein length is just like all other reins. 60" or 54". Know what length you need before ordering them. My 17.2 draft cross needs 60" reins in any brand. My 16 hand TB's are fine with 54".
I'm thankful KL Select makes 60" reins!! They are hard to find, especially in "pebble grip".
If they were made with fine english leather the price would go up, so I'm happy with what I have!"

"I love my KL rubber reins because they are comfortable for my hands -- I have tendon issues. They allow me to maintain a good grip on the reins, they are very flexible and comfortable. I ordered the widest size.
On top of this, I couldn't beat the price!"

"I liked these, but I originally ordered the XL and that was much longer than I needed. My 16.1 warmblood has a long neck, but not long enough to warrant the XL. Nice flexability, good grip."

"These reins have the most buttery leather and the rubber is soft, yet durable, allowing the rein to drape beautifully. They are not too light, not too heavy and fairly thin to be able to allow a nice feel of the horses mouth. The only caveat I would offer is that they are a bit short. I have a short necked, 15.3hh mare and they are fine on her but if you have a longer, taller horse, get them in the next size up which is the XL at 60". Mine are the 54". I love them and will purchase again."

"These reins are perfect if you want the security and grippiness of traditional rubber reins without the bulk. I have the 54" and they were perfect for my 16 hand horse. I am now using them on a 17+ hand horse and think the 60" would be a better bet, but I'm making due with the 54" and not having any issue. I have found these reins to be quite durable."

"I ordered these reins because they were described as being 3/4 in. This is a hard width to find. These reins are not that width. They are much narrower. I will probably send them back."

"I have difficulties trying to wash the ruber on the reins. The underside of the reins is unfinished leather and does collect dirt quickly and hard to wash. These reins are just really hard to wash and keep clean!"

Amazing reins without the bulk

July 23, 2008

"I was having trouble with my regular rubber reins, then I found these. WOW. They are sticky enough, and the pebbles help, but they are still FLEXIBLE. None of this holding a rubber rein and having it fold over your hand six inches up in the air. In fact, I use this on a KK Ultra show jumping bit as the snaffle rein and use a rubber woven web rein (with stops) as my 'curb' rein. I can hold both without any bulkiness issues. WELL worth the money."
