I purchased these and within putting them on the button broke. They they were falling down a lot, so i check and the zippers had broke too, this was all in 20 minutes of putting them on. They never even saw a ride. Also with the zipper in the back, they were a burden to get on in the first place.

I was worried about the faux leather, but was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. They look and feel pretty nice, and I love the Spanish style top. They give a pretty nice silhouette for your calves and don't give you the cankles look. The back zipper is a little awkward to put on, and the metal snaps are hard to clasp, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

I love my tread step paddock boots so I thought I would try the half chaps. I thought they looked great but they didn't fit and I had to send them back.

I actually found that these half chaps are amazing! My legs measure a definite 14-18. I ordered the 13-18, partly because they were out of my size, but previous reviews said to size down since these are stretchy. I went to put them on.... really tight! Took me 20 minutes to put them on the first time! After only three more times (and walking around the house with them on), they fit perfectly!! They are wonderfully snug, and I dont have to worry about my half chaps sliding around while im trying to grip the saddle. There's no real breaking in necessary because the leather is so soft.
I gave the product a 4 star rating for only two reasons (well, mainly one). The biggest problem i have is with the snap at the top of the zipper. Once you close it, those babies won't open!! There have been several times when I thought I was going to rip the leather in the process of pulling the two pieces apart. Now I simply don't do the snaps up. The zipper stays up perfectly, and they don't slide down my calves, so I've had no issue with doing that. The second reason I gave it a 4 star rating is much less important - I feel the height might run slightly on the short side. We all know the feeling of having half chaps that are a little too short - not fun. Because the rest of it fits so well (and the chap didnt come in a 13-19), I stuck with it. And to be honest it doesn't bother me so much. It also doesnt seem like it will fall, though I'm sure in time it will!
Definitely buy a pair. They're cheap, and I have gotten more compliments than I would have ever expected.

Wearing with circuit rider outfit to be an old-fashioned preacher on horseback. Wear with regular shoes; beats finding boots to fit.

I usually wear western boots but I have been half looking for a pair of half chaps to wear with a couple pairs of paddock boot I have sitting around. I measured carefully and purchased these in a size that should have been too big, since I saw in the reviews that they run small. When I tried them on I couldn't even get them zipped! So I would say that literally three sizes "too large" would have been right for me. Other than the sizing issue they seemed to be very quality and very attractive chaps, with nice soft leather that would have been comfy. Of course SmartPak took them back promptly with no questions asked. Overall, I would say I would recommend them, just be prepared to go back and forth a couple times trying to reach the proper size!

When I ordered these chaps, I was not expecting them to be the best (they are $75). But, I was disappointed to see how small and cheap the zipper was and the lack of stretch that the chaps had. I sent these back!

I bought these because I need a pair of black, back zip "gaiter-type" half chaps for a schooling dressage show. My custom boots from Vogel never really fit when I got them about 8 years ago and stopped riding to have a child, so I need something to tide me over for schooling shows until I decided what to do about boots.
Unfortunately, these ran very small. I wear a 15"/17" in the Tredstep Deluxe Half Chaps, and I read that they ran small, so I ordered a 16"/17" hoping they would fit well out of the box. No such luck. If I had had an extra 1/4" in right leg and 1/2" in the left, they probably would've worked.
I was going to use these for schooling shows (hunter/jumper) and recognized dressage shows and events that allow gaiter type half chaps to be worn. In the picture the seam around the instep is flat so it blends into the boot. The ones I received had a very well sew rolled edge. Well done, but much more obviously a half chap from a distance.
I wish I could keep them, but I can't

I purchased the Tredstep Victory half chaps when they came out. Within one year, I have only been able to wear these chaps a maximum of 10 times. Within the first 3 days of use the thread from the zipper started ripping so they went into my closet until I bit the bullet to get a new (stronger) zipper installed and sewn by a leather worker ($75 to install new zippers but I knew they needed to be fixed). I was able to wear them a couple more times and then one of the snaps busted. I replaced the snaps on both chaps. Today I went to the barn to ride- and when I went to put them on I noticed that the tab (that holds the snaps) is now ripping on both chaps! I am fairly outraged that I have not been able to wear these more than 10 times. I am just lucky that I have full chaps and a pair of ariat half chaps that I have been using instead. I am very disappointed in the quality :(

We got these chaps to use in non-rated shows, They looked nice, However they lasted only 3 days before the zipper started to unthread from the leather! Very disapointed, in the quality. Tredsteps are usually very well made. The fit was good and they seemed comfortable, to ride in.

They fit well, they dont sag, I hate back zippers, but I hated bottom snaps that pulled through the leather version of these that I purchased even more.
Treadstep is a hard company to get service from if there is a problem.
My only concern is that I am riding 6-8 horses a day in 30-40 degree weather now and I am soaked from the knee down when I am done. What's gonna happen when it's 80 or 90?
Just sayin'

I wear an Ariat Small Tall chap. That is 14.5 inches around the calf and 19.5 inches tall. I needed a touch more room in the calf so I ordered these in a 15/19. Couldn't even get the chap around my calf and it was well over my knee in height. Not close to fit at all. Very disappointed and back into the box they went to be sent back.

I bought these cause they were one of the few models that had my size. While I'm not huge, my calf is according to chap manufacturers. And I'm also tall, so that poses a problem. I ordered the 17/19. They should have fit. They would have fit if they weren't cut so funky. The fat part of the calf started too high on the chap. Does that make sense? So the zipper got stuck rather low on my leg. Highly disappointed. And as a result I don't think I'd call these stretchy - there was no stretch in them to allow me to get the zipper any higher. I mailed them for return just yesterday.
