Mattes Half Pad- All Purpose
Use the Mattes Half Pad with your existing pad, as you would a gel pad (only the Half Pad is much better: it holds your pad in place, and it is breathable!) Billet strap with self-velcro. Please note: if ordering Custom Colors, the manufacturer does not recommend dark fleece with light quilt.? Colors may bleed.

"My horse got a terrible blanket run on her withers right before show season. I had already qualified for a national competition with her and it wouldn't heal. It was in jumping, and she was refusing everything because it hurt so bad. THIS was the only pad she would jump in because it put weight on the sides of her back and lifted it off her spine and withers and I'm a silver medalist because of it! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"The combination of a Mattes half pad and an Ultra Thinline pad have made a world of a difference in my horse's comfort and way of going. I never ride without them anymore! The Mattes sheepskin really is the best quality, so even though you pay more, the pads stand the test of time. Mine has been used every time I ride for almost four years, and it still works great. I love how the spine is open to allow for a better fit!
I have two Mattes half pads (this one for schooling, and one with rear trim for showing), and both are surprisingly easy to care for. They take a while to dry after being washed, but if you let them dry properly and brush them regularly, the fibers keep their fluffy density. Use a square pad between this and your horse, and you will get many years of use!"

"I have had my original Mattes Half-Pad for about 7 years now, and it is still in perfect condition. I use it every time I ride and it is still like new. I just bought a second one so that I would have a back up for when I wash one. I would never consider any other brand!"

"This is a great pad, made from high quality fleece, doesn't shed. The only thing I don't like about the pad is the bulky front, in front of the pommel. This is a personal dislike, I just don't care for the bulk in front of my saddle, sometimes gets in the way of hands."

"My gelding was very hard to fit a saddle to . When I did finally find a saddle to fit I could tell he was still not 100% happy. He would not stand to be mounted and his movement was not smooth. He needed more protection for his spine, but I needed a product that wasn't going to change the fit of the saddle! I ordered this product and am glad I did. I feel this has made a difference for him in just a few rides. He is moving better and is starting to stand to be mounted . This product was worth the investment and would recommend this to anyone who is looking to make their horse comfortable !!"
