"This was my first SP blanket I purchased - I got it right from the Natick, MA SP store in their clearance section - great deal! I do notice some of the stitching coming loose around the trim and piping but not that big of a deal, she's a horse that plays outside - it's bound to get destroyed. :) It fits well, doesn't rub out her mane or withers due to the high neck and is very very warm. She used to live in Saxon brand blankets but this one turned us into SP blanket believers. ;)
One only gripe I had about this blanket is the fact that the hind leg straps that came with it were a bit flimsy and didn't stay tight, they always loosened all the way out. I contacted SP and they promptly sent me a new, more durable pair for free."

"This was my first SmarkPak branded purchase and overall I was pleased with the quailty. Great fit and durability for my large Dutch Warmblood mare who is very hard on her "clothes". She wore this blanket almost everyday this winter. The lineing did show signs of wear at the shoulder gussets and the stitching pulled out completely on the gusset. The exterior showed no signs of wear. I was pleased to get a season out of the blanket. Overall good value for the price but for everyday use plan on replacing every year."

"This fits my Arabian mare great! Love the high neck and heavyweight.. it has not rubbed her mane out and everything fits well. I did have an issue with the elastic leg straps in the back, but when I mentioned it to SmartPak, they immediately acknowledged it as being an issue they knew about and sent me a more durable pair of leg straps to use instead of the ones it comes with. Great buy and excellent customer service!"

"I did like the mid-weight, however seemed more suitable for a narrower horse than the Oldenberg Mare I purchased it for. When I ordered it, I was advised by the sales associate that they ran large, however I found it to be a true-to-small fit, and would have preferred the next size up.
I like the weight, the material, the leg gussets, and the neck."

"As always, shopping with SmartPak is such a pleasure.
This time we needed a blanket quickly as one horses blanket got destroyed by another horses play time, the only one that fit him was the one on my horse and the weather was the coldest of the season. We like the way the high neck blankets fit and these horses are out with sheds and need more protection.
The helpful person at SmartPak suggested the Smart Pak version and it did not dissapoint. It arrived two days later in time for the coldest nights and a couple brutal days. Everything about the blanket is quality and it fits great, stays in place. I got the medium fill and it is perfect ,not too bulky but keeps the horse nice and cozy.
All my experiences with SmartPak have been positive, what a great company. They have such a thoughtful approach to everything to do to help us take better care of our animal friends."

"I have a horse that is hard to fit (large shoulders, decent sized wither, upright head carriage). I liked the high neck on this. It kept the blanket from putting too much pressure on his withers (even in a grazing position the pressure wasn't too bad). I liked the roominess in the shoulders and chest. The rest of the blanket fit good too.
The one area I didn't care for was the shoulder dart. I think Weatherbeeta is the only one who got it right and has the most freedom of movement in the shoulder.
All in all, a great blanket. I can't comment on durability because we haven't had it long, but it seems durable and built well. I didn't rare it high because I just don't know yet how well it will hold up."

"While my horse is easy on his blankets, his field mates often aren't. They like to grab tail flaps and pull, often leaving big rips in the blankets. I was impressed with the quality of this blanket upon its arrival. My horse normally wears a size 72 and based on what I read, this blanket runs true to size. I ordered his size and it fit nicely. No rubs anywhere when it was taken off after a week of wearing it. If it wears as well as it looks on him, I'll be ordering more when the time comes to replace this one. While my horse hasn't been wearing this blanket too long, it is holding up well so far to our cold wet temperatures."

"Wanted an extended neck with excellent quality and a more attractive price tag than some of the big manufacturers. Have Rambos, Weatherbeetas, numerous brands on my 4 horses. This was my first SmartPak blanket and I am very pleased. Excellent fit and coverage, no pressure points, easy on and off system. Have yet to see how waterproof it is but looks pretty tough. And attractive trim."

"I purchased this blanket because it is in my barn colors and based on my previous experience with the Smartpak products. I have only had the blanket for a couple weeks but it still looks great. The 81' fits my 16'3" TB nicely but there is definitely room if you have a larger WB type horse. I pulled him out last night in the rain and he was very warm underneath! Very happy with the purchase."

"Very pleased with this med weight blanket at this price. Can't comment on durability yet as it is new, but it fits my compact 15 hand Arab beautifully! He measured 70 and I got the 72. Very pleased with the fit, neck is smaller than other brands so it doesn't pull on his withers. Love the high neck to keep out the rain and wind. Blanket is well made. Now if it will just last more than a few winters!"

"we have such blustery winters in Wisconsin that I picked the high neck for a bit more warmth. Very durable, so far -- my horses play rough and are always pulling the blankets off each other (or trying to!) Haven't lost one yet; I do like the fact that I can replace the leg straps easily if they are pulled off or broken. I think the heavy weight is great for the coldest days (down to 10) -- would add another layer for below 10 or very windy."

"Bought this blanket as a replacement for the SmartPak Classic turnout I had previously. I really liked the Classic - but wanted more durability & even though there was fleece on the withers of the Classic it still bothered my high withered mare if she had to wear it more than a couple of days at a time. This turnout has so far done exactly what I needed it to & my mare is no longer "wither sensitive" w/the high neck. I do like the idea of the clips to close the chest, (instead of buckles) however, the clips on this blanket are a bit stiff & sometimes hard to get undone. That is the only reason I rated the overall rating as good instead of excellent. Other than that, I am very pleased with this turnout. Great quality at a great price!"

"I purchased a large pony for our lesson program last year and he came with an older blanket that had lost it's waterproof abilities by the end of the winter. In the Spring, I purchased a turnout blanket for him at our local tack shop but it was only 600D and was huge in the neck. Needless to say, he came in with a huge rip in the hind end of the blanket after a few weeks of wearing it. I usually purchase Rambo Wugs for my guys since they have stood the test of time and 24/7 turnout, plus I like the high neck since it keeps them more covered and warm. However, they are super expensive! I was not prepared to spend $300 on a blanket for him, so I looked into Smartpak's Deluxe High Neck Turnout Blanket. Very similar to the Rambo blankets, but half the price. He's been on 24/7 turnout in it for about two months now and no marks whatsoever on this blanket. Fits him great, even in the neck, and is tough, tough, tough. He is only 5 and loves to play and pick fights, so I know that this blanket has survived some attacks. When my Rambo's wear out on my big horses, I will definitely look into replacing them with these!"

"I really like that these blankets have a higher neck, keeping the weight of the blanket off my aged mares' (22 and 23) withers. BUT, after only two weeks on each of my mares, both blankets started falling apart. The first had a seam split open and the second had a belly strap fall off. Of course SmartPak is wonderful to do business with and agreed to replace both blankets. I replaced one with the same SmartPak brand and after just two weeks it, too, already has a hole in the fabric. I replaced the second with a Rhino Wug, not the SmartPak Rhino, and when I opened the package one of the front clips fell out in two pieces. Of course, I had to send it back and cannot reorder since they are no longer available. Clearly this is not my year for good luck with blankets. I would love SmartPak to find a better fabric and manufacturer for this blanket."
