"I was disappointed with the fit of this bridle. The quality seemed like it was nice and the padding on the mono-crown was nice as well. I originally got the FULL, but when I tried it on my horse it was HUGE. I tried it on two horses at my barn and the noseband was big everywhere with no room to adjust and the throat latch ran too big as well. I exchanged the FULL for a COB and ran into the same problem. The nose band fit better, but not great. The rest of the bridle fit better and almost like a fULL. I tried the COB on a horse that has a dainty cob sized head and it was SWIMMING on her. Needless to say, I was disappointed at the fit of the this bridle and exchanged it for a different brand."

"I'm loving this bridle!! Was ready for use after just 2 oilings, super soft and supple. The Full size is a hair on the large size, but not much - maybe 2 holes. I tried the COB size first on my OTTB mare (her dressage bridle is a COB), and it was WAY too small! SmartPak exchanged it for the FULL (thanks for free return shipping!!) and it fits great. Like I said above, maybe 2 holes bigger than I would ideally like it, but still have room to adjust with different bits."

"I'm so picky about my tack. This is a beautiful bridle! The leather is soft and the padding is really nice. It doesn't have the "cheap" look or feel to it. With just one layer of neatsfoot oil it darkened perfectly! Plus it was hard to find a figure 8 bridle that also included reins that were not only raised and fancy stitched but rubber as well. This has everything I was looking for. I love it!"

"I got this bridle at the Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA this year ('11). I have been looking for a nice figure 8 bridle that fits for a long time. I have an Appendix bred horse with a smallish head and sometimes finding a figure 8 nose band to fit is quite a chore. I got the cob size and it is perfect. It also takes oil very nicely. It darkened to a rich brown and is a very close match to my saddle. The break in time was minimal and the reins are not too stiff as with most new bridles. I have many bridles that are in the $300-400 range and I would say that for a bridle that is under $250, it holds it's own perfectly. I totally recommend anyone to give it a try:)"

"This bridle came on sale, so I bought it and am very pleased with the quality and workmanship. The color was a lighter brown, so a few coats of oil darkened it right away. The bridle fit my horse really well without any major adjustments. This bridle was a great find!! I also really liked the figure 8 noseband. It was padded without the fleece that you usually see. Very clean. Great bridle!!"

"I love this figure 8 bridle so much. I oiled it (with warm olive oil) and it turned a really deep brown almost black which I like because my saddle is really dark brown. It is also soft and supple leather. Great for the price. I got a cob size for my horse that is in between cob and horse size and it fits him great!

"As soon I took it out of the box I could tell by the feel of the leather it was a quality product. The leather was soft and I was able to adjust the size without breaking a fingernail to take it apart.
The padding is in all the right places and it fits my horse great. I have had several horses and many bridles and I have to say this is the nicest bridle I own now. If you buy it, you won't be disappointed thats for sure."

"(Note: I purchased the previous version of this bridle, with the lighter padding. However, the product information is the same, so I'm assuming that the color of the padding is the only difference between the two.)
First, the leather is very nice. It's smooth and soft, and it doesn't look like the top surface will get "crinkly" like cheaper leathers do when they're twisted.
Second, the padding is pretty bad. Frankly, it's not even padding, it's just wider leather underneath the regular straps. Describing the padding as "soft" is completely and totally inaccurate. I have a Harwich padded bridle (Harwich being SmartPak's brand that is "below" Wellfleet), and the padding on that bridle is far superior than this. Is this bridle going to be less comfortable than a non-padded bridle? No, but it is certainly not going to be any better. The ONLY part of the entire bridle that has decent padding is the disc on the nose.
Third, speaking of the disc, the product description says the disc is fancy stitched. It is not. To be fair, the picture shows the disc is not fancy stitched, but it would be nice if the description matched the product.
Fourth, the reins are great! The rubber is nicely grippy and they are pliable, not stiff, so they don't feel heavy or bulky in your hands.
Overall, a good purchase, but if you're looking for a softly padded bridle, you should definitely pass on this one. I'd be more inclined to get the Harwich figure 8 noseband to go with my Harwich bridle in the future."

"I bought this as a show bridle and absolutely love the quality, attention to detail, and the fit. Thinking that because the price is SO right I may get another for my show bridle and make this my every day one - I actually hate using anything other than this one now!
The leather is soft, I used it in a clinic the first day I had it and you would have never guessed the leather han't been previously oiled (by me). The soft padding behind the ears and alond the figure 8 really is good quality, doesn't appear the be the kind to get dried out from sweat.
The rubber reins are a good width and the grip is nice - not too tacky and definitely not slippery worn down nubby. I use SSG All weather gloves and it's a perfect match.
The stitching and detail is amazing on this bridle. Ihave bridles that cost over $500 and you would never guess this one was less than $300.
I was hoping there is a Wellfleet breastplate coming to the market soon (hint)...."
