I had some of this product left over from a horse that was sold and decided to try it for my old mare who has trouble keeping weight on. She also tended to have mild gas colic unless kept on a very rigid 4-meals-a-day schedule. She has been quite content and gaining weight since adding Smart Gut pellets to her feed. I am using only 1/2 the recommended amount, so I bought a bucket rather than a Smart Pak.

After my horses first show he developed ulcers, after treatments I went to another show where he again developed ulcers. I added smart gut to his pak and haven't had to treat him again and he eats great no more wasting hay/feed.
My horse is stall bound with a suspensory injury. Instead of having my barn help paste him every day with ulcerguard, I stuck him on this supplement to keep his stomach quiet.
So far so good, his manure is solid and he is as happy as he is going to get inside his stall for 6 weeks!

I purchased this for my 10 yr old Barrel horse. She has always been a "cranky" mare, and always has opened her mouth and tipped her head from side to side when you ride her... This year she started doing it worse, so I knew it wasnt just a bad habit. I started her on the Smartgut Powder because it was inexpensive and I didnt have much to loose. She was on the Smartgut Powder for 6 days when I noticed she had stopped opening her mouth and tilting her head side to side when you ride her, I didnt think it would work so quick but that was the only thing I had changed! She has been on it for a month and is less crankier as well! I am switching her to the pellets as the powder is a little messy in the buckets but definalty well worth the $$! Would recommened to anyone!

Having just treated my TB with a full course of Gastrogard, I was determined to find a daily maintence product that would ensure gut health after the initial treatment was complete. Many times, minor ulcers will return promply upon completion of the Rx products due to an increase in stomach acid formerly controled by the Rx. Anyway....I did NOT want my poor pony to suffer from this. We started the SmartGut 1/3 of the way through his Rx treatment and he has been getting it daily ever since. We are at 2 weeks post treatment. So far....so good!!! Thanks Smartpak!

I've had my paing gelding for 3 years now. He's always been a bit spooky, but I thought after some time and training, he would get better. We moved to a new barn about 6 months ago, and all though he was never a bombproof horse, his spook started to get worse. For the first few months I chalked it up to being in a new environment, but after 6 months, I had had it. I wanted something I felt safe to jump cross country with, or at least show in dressage, and my guy was just too spooky to do anything with. Last month I put him on SmartGut, and boy what a difference!!! He's a completely different horse! He's focused during training, and just much more mellow than he has EVER been! The only thing I changed was adding this supplement. My equine chiro said my guy was tender in the girth area, and that was a signe of ulcers, which is why I put him on this supplement to begin with. I never expected to see the changes in his demeanor that I have. I'm so glad I bought this supplement!

My OTTB was starting to get girthy and just wasn't putting on weight the way I would've wanted. I have just stared the SmartGut over the past two months, but he's settling down, and I intend to continue using this product. It is palatable and he is thriving and looking good, and he isn't as girthy and twitchy... I hadn't started him on meds because I wanted to try him on supplements first, and I feel I've made the right decision starting here!

My 15 yr old Arabian gelding started wind sucking several years ago. I have tried everything to make him stop, from cribbing collars to hot pepper. Nothing seemed to work and Serix was just one unhappy camper! After reading all the reviews and some research, I thought I'd give Smart Gut a try. He's been on it about a month and a half and he's much happier and Serix even quit wind sucking. He is so much happier now and that makes me happy. Thanks SmartPak!!!!

After treating my suspected ulcer horse(4 yr Quarter Horse Reiner) with Gasto Guard for 45 days I still was not seeing results that I was happy with. His hair coat was not looking very good, his appetite was very poor in spite of his work levels and he was not putting on weight that he needed. After reading the reviews on here about Smart Gut I decided to give it a try. After a week on the product I noticed he began finishing his supplements. After two weeks he I noticed his appetite had increased. He has now been on the product for several months and he is a whole different horse. His coat is shiny and healthy looking, he is whinnying for food at meal time and he finishes his food clean, I am happy to report he is now on the chubby side :) I just re-ordered another 15# bucket and am going to start my daughters reiner on it who is not gaining the weight I want him to.

Smart gut has been amazing for my mare. She developed ulcers and was anxious, irritable, not eating her hay. After completing a 30 day treatment of ulcergard paste as recommended by my vet, I placed my mare on smart gut. Its amazing...no ulcer flare ups, back to her old personality, and not too pricey. She loves the taste! I recommend smart gut to anyone that has a horse that may have stomach or anxious tendencies. That and minimal grain in their diet does wonders!

My 4 year old mare was diagnosed with Ulcers over a year ago. We treated her with initially with Gastro Guard and shortly switched to Ranitidine and started her on Smart Gut. It definitely helped keep her eating well but it did not prevent her ulcer's from recurring. She recently had a minor bout of colic and was diagnosed with hind gut ulcers. My guess is that she would have coliced sooner and worse if she had not been on the product. The vet reviewed the ingredients and recommended my adding more supplements. I looked at the ultra but since the amount of L-Glutamine, Aloe and other supplements are lumped together in the ingredients my vet wanted me to stick with the regular Smart Gut and separately add more L-Glutamine and Aloe and another company’s pro-biotic product. I think the product has great ingredients in it but it alone it’s not enough for horse that has regular ulcer problems. Talk with your vet to see what else your horse may need to use with this product.

My vet disagrees with me, but I am 100% convinced cribbing CAN be a sign of ulcer, or at least acid reflux or something. My 23 y.o. QH has cribbed as long as I have known him (7 years). He stops mid-meal to crib --- or at least he used to. He has been on Smart -Gut Pellets for a little over a month now. I noticed about a week ago, that is no longer cribbing. I mean not at all. Or at least not when I am watching. I am going to try Smart Gut Pellets on one of our shelter horses, an ex-harness racer who cribs non-stop, even more than my QH did. I will let you know how it goes!

I have a 27-year old quarterhorse gelding who is in excellent shape except for bouts of runniness with his manure. I do expect some digestion issues at this age and have tried various probiotics and he has been on two courses of ulcer medication. I read the reviews for this product and was hopeful and willing to try anything. Within 2 days, he was much improved and I just received my second shipment so I can continue with this product. No more runny manure! I am so relieved and he probably is too because washing his rear and legs in cold weather is not fun for anybody. This is a great product and I would recommend that anybody with this type of issue give it a try.
