Customer Reviews for The Mane Puller

The Mane Puller

The ManePuller is designed for discerning riders and grooms who pull their horse's mane. The ManePuller is better than a pulling comb, allowing the groom to achieve a show-quality pulled mane, easier, faster, with less stress to groom and horse, and with NO FINGER PAIN and NO WRIST PAIN.Created by veterinarian Dr. David Sequist, the patented ManePuller is the first mane thinning device that is designed to make mane pulling easy, less painful, and less stressful for both groom and horse. The ManePuller remains the only mane thinning tool that truly pulls the mane from the root (rather than cutting it) for a perfect, show-quality mane. Pulling manes can be tedious, stressful and painful but the ManePuller makes pulling manes easy.

"The mane puller works well if you have a lot of work ahead of you. It is fast and easy on a longer mane. If you just want to "shape up" a shorter mane, it won't work as well."

"I bought this hoping it would make pulling my pony's over sized mane easier.
I am sadly disappointed with it.
I read that others came with instructions, mine did not.
No matter how I tried it, the hair just pulls through and does not pull out.
Like others; I tried more hair, less hair, wrapping it more times around the comb part, etc.
Going back to the boring aluminum pulling comb.

"The combs for $0.99 are as effective and as easy to use. I sent this one back. My first return to SmartPak."

"I hate pulling my mare's mane, so I was really hoping that this would be easier for both of us. Once I figured out how to do it in an easy motion, it was slightly easier then my comb, but my horse still didn't like it and it was harder to get a nice edge. I wouldn't recommend it-not worth the time or money."

"I was really excited about this product, thinking how nice it would be to have some relief to my knuckles and wrists. I read the directions before I used it and they were straightforward and simple enough. I tried it out on a mare with an average mane, not too thin, not too thick. I sectioned off a small piece of mane wrapped it around the teeth, clamped down and pulled...and the hair just slid out! I thought, okay, maybe I'm not squeezing the handles tightly enough or I have too much hair (even though it was a SMALL piece). I tried and tried and tried... more hair, less hair, more wraps, less wraps....The hair just kept slipping through...The only time it would pull the hair out was when I wrapped, clamped, AND held the end of the hair with my free hand...I resorted back to my trusty old pulling comb and got the job done. The process was simple and I could see how the stress to my hands would have been reduced, IF it would have just pulled out the hair! I might experiment with it a little more, but I don't have high expectations..."

"I purchased this product in hopes of finding a faster, easier way to pull my mare's mane. This product was NOT the product for me. I found it very difficult to use and not at all left handed friendly (a must for me). I'm going back to my trusty aluminum pulling comb."

"I use to use a pulling comb and use to always knick my fingers with the teeth. It's takes a few tries to get use to this, but once you get on a roll it's really quick and efficient. It's made out of plastic, hopefully it holds up for a long time."

"I have the mane puller and not only pull manes with it, I also use it to de-burr my horse's mane and tail. I just clamp onto the burr and pull it out. It works great for that! It's also good for those wind tangles that happen when the mane gets in a big corckscrew knot. Just clamp and pull!"
