"I have the plymouth padded fancy stitch bridle, but after I purchased it I started regretting not getting a monocrown bridle. This worked out perfectly! When it came I discovered it was made by Plymouth and it was a perfect match to my bridle, which I have had for almost a year and I love. Even though this only comes in horse size and my bridle is a cob size, it fits fairly well. My only complaint is I had some trouble getting it on- it takes strategy."

"Bought 2 of these to adapt 2 bridles to padded crown. Fit one bridle great the other was a bit tough to get on due to thickness of the bridle leather- but was worth the struggle because once on it really doesn't move. Horse is comfy and it's a nice improvement over the foam pads used previously. Would be nice to have an oversize version (longer & slightly wider) padding is good, Leather could be a little softer (that's why 4stars quality) however leather is nice for the price. Saved me from buying a new bridle so I am very happy! Highly recommend!"

"I bought a SmartCrown to use on a "new to me" bridle I recently bought from my transition of hunter tack into dressage tack. The bridle is an older model without any sort of crown padding whatsoever. Because I have a horse w/a sensitive poll, I knew immediately that I wanted a SmartCrown from SmartPak. Although I'd never seen one in person before, I had seen them advertised and thought it would be the perfect fix! It was a bit of a tight squeeze fitting it onto my bridle's crown, and I am not sure if the ends of the crown piece #the leather ends# are supposed to be able to tuck into your browband, but they're too wide to be tucked into mine #a Harwich clincher browband#, so they just rest against my boy's face #instead of the browband sides touching him, the ends of the SmartCrown touch him#. The padding is very soft, and the leather seems like it will only become more supple with use/conditioning. The SmartCrown does add quite a bit of bulk, and I was concerned about if my horse would tolerate it all behind his ears, but so far, so good - he seems happy and appreciative of the soft padding! Overall, it was a good buy #especially at the sale price#. If SmartPak could find a way to make it a bit more streamlined, that would be awesome!"

"I was looking for a crown pad, at a affordable price, and found this one. They fit both of my bridles and look great. They aren't too bulky, but are still nicely padded. I have only had them for a little over a month now so I can't say too much about durability. I use them everyday though and I have seen no signs of wear yet. Worth the money!"

"The only reason I returned this product is because my crownpiece is quite wide and did not fit through the leather loops. I was very disappointed this did not fit my crownpiece, as it is super soft. I could not believe how nice this was for the price. It is such a bargain. The leather is soft and supple. It offers great cushy padding for the horse's poll."

"fit both english and western bridle. Added surface area to headstall with the heavy western show bit without sticking out adding too much bulk to the show headstall. Works on the hunt bridle too. Will go the the cavesson piece over crown hunt bridle design in the future so I don't have to buy more except for the western bridles."

"I liked the idea of converting my bridle to a comfy monocrown, but the quality of leather was seriously lacking. I ended up returning this unused & buying the same sort of thing from an online European store- made by Passier, much higher quality leather, and only a little pricier. It wouldn't be cost effective if that were the only thing ordered, but as I was ordering other items not available in the US & it was flat rate shipping, the cost of shipping wasn't an issue. I'd like to see Smartpak offer this in a higher quality leather. As always, I appreciate SmartPak's superlative customer service & return policy!"

"I bought this to convert my inexpensive dressage bridle to a monocrown, mainly for ease of cleaning as well as giving my horse some extra padding on the top of his head. The SmartCrown is nicely padded, but the loops were a bit snug as I was trying to get my bridle through it. I had to drop my bit one hole to compensate for the crown, but my horse doesn't seem to mind. It definitely makes it easier to wipe my bridle down after each ride. Definitely a product I would recommend!"

"I bought one for my hacking bridle, then after a few weeks bought a second for my dressage bridle. I wish they could stay as padded and be a lower profile, but once I got used to the look they don't seem as clunky-looking. However they may look, I do think they make he bridle much more comfortable for my horse--when I hold the bridle on my hand, it actually feels lighter, having the weight of the bridle spread over the wider, padded surface. Hard to know for sure, but my horse seems like he might be happier too. At minimum, he is at least as comfortable as before. I suspect it may look odd when he is braided, but I would rather he be comfortable. I have one more bridle that might be on the receiving end of one of these...
Also, seems obvious, but if your horse is on the last hole or two, this may make your bridle too small, or at least require you to punch some holes in it!"

"The Smart Crown seems very good for a one horse owner or someone with a separate bridle for each horse. I'm using it on 3 horses with 3 different heads & it's not so easy to adjust from one horse to the next. It is very soft & the horses seem comfortable wearing it. Overall I recommend it."

"I wanted something to offer more padding and comfort for my hunter mare but didn't want to spend big money on a new padded monocrown bridle just for schooling especially since my old show bridle (current schooling bridle) is still in fine shape. The bridle I'm using it on is a 10yr old Jimmy's 21st century hunter bridle and I had no issue with fit at all."

"Super soft padding. I had originally got it for my dressage bridle, but it isn't wide enough, unfortunately. I liked the padding a lot so I figured I would put it on my jumping bridle, even though the color doesn't match. I had to REALLY squish the crown in there, but once it was one it still seemed like it was flexible enough. Haven't tried riding in it yet. Would love to see one a bit bigger for more options :)"

"I use this with my Plymouth dressage bridle for schooling and love it since I don't have to spend big $$ on an extra monocrown bridle. I seriously think my horse actually like the bridle better with it on, but who knows!? My only dislike is that the edges tend to pop out from inside the brow band (where they tuck in) when I am tossing the bridle around a bit. But, easy to fix!"

"Many of the less expensive monocrown bridles are very stiff/hard in the padding... but not this one. The padding is very soft, exactly what I want up around the sensitive poll and ears. The "keepers" are a bit snug, but my bridle went through without a problem and I actually really like that it doesn't slide around; once I have the cavesson adjusted to the right length, no more messing with it unless I take the whole bridle apart! The tabs on either end slide right into the browband loops and I never even notice them. This has made my bridle function like a true monocrown. LOVE it!"

"My horses bridle was always adjusted one hole different on each side because the bridle was either too tight or too loose if adjusted evenly.
Being a dressage rider, I love symmetry. This crown adds just enough to make the bridle buckle evenly.
It was a snug fit to get all the pieces through the keepers on the crown but worth the effort.
