"My OTTB had a two-week long ordeal with impaction colic; then, he had an episode of gas colic. My vet also diagnosed him with atrial fibrillation at the end of this ordeal. He has had issues with ulcers before and is on Smartgut Pellets. I ordered the paste just to give him an extra boost due to all the stress on his system. He also is making a trip to NC State. He definitely does not like the paste, but he does not go out of his way to refuse it like he does with some pastes. It is easy to administer and does not break the bank. I will always keep some on hand in the barn."

"this product helps my horse with gas and irritable colon at horse shows. It works better than ulcergard as my horse has never been confirmed with ulcers."

"My horse has a history of colic surgery about 10 years ago, and this year went on a trip across the country from MI to CA. I was worried about keeping his gut healthy during the trip. I began giving him a dose a day the first two days, then 2 doses a day 2 days before and the days during his trip (one in AM and on in PM). He had zero problems with colic, eating, drinking, etc. and settled in very nicely to his new home.
The only thing I will say is that the "paste" is a bit runny, and at first my horse didn't like it. By the third day, though, he quit putting up a fight and actually seemed to enjoy the taste.
"The product comes in a tube so I thought it would be paste like, but the product was actually kinda gritty and oily. My horse swallowed it fine, but it left an oily mark on his lip and on the stall door where a little drop fell. The product worked and soothed his stomach, but was just different consistency than I was expecting. Still a great product and would use it again though!"
"I have a 30 yo hard keeper AND picky eater gelding that just isn't interested in eating a whole lot so it's a constant battle to get him to stay at a good weight. Any time the weather changes he won't finish a meal. Then he got cellulitis and between the meds and not feeling so hot, he really went off his grain. I tried probiotic cookies - no go. Tried the tube, and at least he didn't get runny poops from the antibiotics. But it didn't seem to soothe his tummy.
On a whim, I tried the SmartGut paste. I didn't think Mr. Picky would eat the pellets (I plan to ask for a sample though). WOW! IMMEDIATE RESULTS and I only gave him 1/2 a tube. Finished his dinner, so I gave him more grain - finished that too! Now I'm able to give him three meals a day and HE EATS IT! ALL OF IT! He even eats more hay, too!
It's been 90 degrees and I keep the tubes in the barn and haven't had any issues"

"This paste is the same consistency as the SmartLytes and I found them both to be a bit runny when I used them last weekend. Several others suggested putting the SmartLytes in the fridge before use, so I will try that for this too and see how it goes. I bought the 5-pack to give my mare a boost before shows this year. She is on daily U-Gard pellets as a preventative and is doing very well. I have not otherwise tried SmartGut but may switch since this seems to work. She had two episodes of gas colic last year so I thought I would try giving her some extra support in times of higher stress. I give her one dose the night before and then the other in the morning of the show and it worked great last weekend. She loaded better than ever! Unfortunately I think she only got partial doses due to it being too runny, but I think it was just too warm. Overall seems to be a great product!"
"I'm always hesistant to buy pastes for my horses because I'm afraid they will either be too runny and get all over me or too thick and take both hands to push (then who holds the horse?) The consistency on this one is just right! And it doesn't seem to have a strong odor (at least to me) plus my horse doesn't object to the taste too much. After using this we're still friends! I'm using this more as a preventative so hard to tell if it's doing the job this early in the show season."
