when I purchased the Amigo draft blanket, I was hesitant due to the fact it was not made from rip stop material and that my horse is out with another horse. Well, now I wish I would have stuck by my first feelings as it is now just a month and a half (and $165) later, and there is a BIG three corner tear and several other little pulled/but not quite ripped spots. You just can't beat rip stop for durability!! Don't believe it when they try to tell you that the polyester is just as tough! Other than that, the blanket was a good fit, and I was so happy that I could find one that actually fit him as he is a percheron/welch cross. Now I have to try to figure out how to fix it so it still remains weather proof. Any ideas? I am REALLY mad about this! That's a LOT of money for just a month and a half! Not totally sure how tear got there as I work thru the day. But that is beside the point, I don't feel this should have ripped or you make it out of better material if you're going to charge that kind of a price.

Fits our draft cross horses the best - more room through the shoulders than other brands. Our horses fit better in an 86, but the Amigo does not have this size. Wish Horseware still carried it in the Rambo line.

Overall, this is a good turnout sheet. My warmblood is 17'3" with high withers. The blanket is snug in the front of his chest so could be roomier in that area. It fits well everywhere else and is very durable.

This blanket is more generous through the chest than Weatherbeetas, Original Rambos, and the Smartpak Indestructable turnouts. All of those were snug and restricted my big warmblood's movement. This blanket is roomy and more comfortable for my big horse. It has some little snags and tears after about a month of use, so not the sturdiest blanket ever, but it's the only blanket I could find big enough!

I have used Amigo blankets in the past with great luck. They always fit and endure a lot of rolling, etc. I have a new horse, and he has a huge shoulder. This blanket fits great and and has plenty of "belly coverage." The only thing I would change would be to add leg straps. Not too fond of the tail strap. I ordered from Smart Pak because I knew they would ship fast and if there were issues, I could just pick up the phone. Another great buy from SP!

I tried several other brands for my WB but they all were too tight through the withers and shoulders. The Amigo XL is the only line with the roomy fit my horse needs. I do wish that the Rambo line had an XL, or that the Amigo at least had a padded withers panel. But it seems durable and it's inexpensive.

I bought this turnout blanket after sending back the regular Amigo Turnout for a sizing difficulty. I have a Gypsy Vanner who is in foal and although small in stature, she is round in belly. First off, customer service with SmartPak is about the best around. Very nice and very quick return of funds to my account. This XL fit my filly well as the straps on the regular size would not come close together. She has already ripped a tear apparently on a nail. She is very hard on blankets, but otherwise, it has held up well. As with the other Amigos, I love the way these don't move on the horse and will definitely buy again.

My only complaintnw this blanket is that it doesn't quite feel heavy enough to be a mid weight. But besides that the fit and quality is excellent. I have a Clydesdale and he is hard to fit. Blankets fit length wise but are always too tight across the neck and shoulders. This blanket fits well without those concerns.

I bought this turnout b/c they stopped making the Rambo XL which I was NOT happy about. I own a Spotted Draft Horse he wears a size 90 blanket. The size is good but the quality is not as good as the Rambo XL.The belly straps are long enough (finally)on the other Rambo blankets I had to add extenders to the belly straps. I'm not happy that the hardware on the chest closure has bent that has NEVER happened before. The material quality is not as good as the Rambo XL and I wish they would make each blanket weight a different color.I think the only reason he has no tears is because he is the alfa horse out in the field. I have always liked Horseware products but overall I wish they had continued to make the Rambo XL.But when you have a horse who needs a size 90 blanket xtra wide you really don't have a choice.

I purchased an Amigo XL in size 90 for my Percheron/TB gelding (who definitely takes more after his Percheron side). He's turned out with many horses in a large field, and I noticed that the outside of the blanket was getting a bit frayed from bite marks. "OK," I said to myself, "that goes with the territory of a large group turnout of playful geldings." But imagine my surprise when I was at the barn on this freezing afternoon and noticed that the lining was ripped from the inside! I've had the blanket for less than a month. So disappointed. Not the quality I would have expected from Horseware. Hopefully his new Rambo will fare better.

I was forced to purchase this product becuase Rambo no longer makes the XL blankets cut to fit draft cross horses. They do fit my wide horses but the quality of the materials and construction is barely passable. I already have a butt strap torn off. The medium weight is so thin I am going to have to buy another light weight XL to layer over it to keep my clipped horses warm. The way the neck cover attaches allows the edgo of it to flip down when the horse grazes and cold rain can easily penetrate the whole exposed area. The belly surcingles do not hold the blanket close enough to the horse along the back half of the belly. I look out in the field in the wind and can see the sides of the blanket billowing out away from the hind quarters despite multiple adjustments of the straps. My horses are body clipped field hunters and they are cold. Its much flimsier than other medium weight blankets I have had. Just wish Rambo would resume making their XL. I want their quality, durability and warmth and would rather pay more for that than fool with this cheaper product. Order a heavy weight if you must use it. I tried Schneiders- they RUB! I will say, so far these do not rub the shoulders

Fits well over a cozy stable blanket, comes down longer on the side and plenty of room through the shoulder. Keeps my horse dry especially with the attached neck cover, no rain running down inside at the neck.

I have a very Baroque Friesian. He's only 15'3" but weighs 1400 lbs. and wears a size 86" blanket! Needless to say, it's very difficult to find blankets that fit him properly and don't rub his shoulders. Since it comes in 3" increments, I sized up, and was surprised the Amigo XL 87" was too large on him. I was afraid the 84" would be too small, but it fits him perfectly. I wish it came in more than 1 color. The only complaint I have is the lack of leg straps. The tail cord is light beige, and you can imagine what that looks like after a day or two! Other than that, I highly recommend this blanket if you have a hard-to-fit oversize horse.

Horseware offers three lines of turnout - Rambo, Rhino and Amigo - and I believe they are in position of price point. The Rambo XL fit my horse perfectly and I was very happy with the product. For whatever reason, they decided to no longer offer the Rambo XL and offer it in the Amigo line. All products are supposed to be cut from the same pattern, but I have found that is NOT the case - ever! The Amigo XL is a disappointment to say the least.

The Amigo XL Turnout fits my Percheron x Friesian mare very well. I will buy another one when necessary. By rating this overall as "good", I am comparing it to the Rambo XL blanket, which I would rate as "excellent". Good XL blankets are hard to find. The Amigo fits true to size, so order the size you need.
