"I picked these up recently after my knees started acting up. I wanted a comfortable boot that I could wear around shows, school and run errands in. First off they run at least a half size large. In width and length these fit me like my size 6.5 ariat cobalt performer pro's do. I have these in a size 6. One thing I found interesting is the toe cap if there was one is soft not a hard leather like my other paddocks so be aware if that is important. They fit right out of the box and I wore them for about 8 hours day one. After that completely broke in. I like they are the hybrid running shoe/riding boot. Not the classiest boot ever but very functional. True no ankle support but for me it's a nice change and riding in them is awesome. Not sure how long they will last with the zipper and Velcro. I would buy again."

"Finally, a paddock boot that doesn't irritate my ankle! Boots come to just below the ankle bone and don't rub my oversize ankle from 3 surgeries. Footbed was comfortable from the first step and very supportive. Any lack of ankle support is made up with the volant chap. They are a great combination."

"I love Ariat and thought these were the coolest so I ordered them. I am a size 8.5 but have the Ariat Cobalt paddock boots in a 9.5. These run large. I needed an 8. Buy a half size smaller when ordering.
These remind me of basketball sneakers. They look and fit like them. The top of the boot hits right around the ankle bone. If you are sensitive there or often get blisters there you may want to consider a different boot.
The interior cushioning is incredibly comfortable. I could walk around in these things all day long. Super comfortable and the leather allows for a little bit of give.
The outer materials are also great quality and seem very durable. My only complaint is they do look like a basketball shoe versus a classy riding boot. Considering the cost I'd prefer something a bit more equestrian. Though combined with the really intense half chap these look wonderful!"

"I purchased these paddock boots after buying the half chaps because I was impressed with the quality and the fit of the Volant Half Chaps. My old Dublin paddock boots wore through the sides in the 6 months I had them and I wanted something that could stand up to a trainer's work load. I know Ariat makes a comfortable boot and the Volants are no exception. They really do feel like tennis shoes. The fit is a bit large around the heel but I'm not feeling the friction another reviewer mentioned. I like my shoes to have some breathing room, so maybe its personal preference?
I wasn't aware when I bought them how short the boot is, but they do fit perfectly with the half chap and it feels like I can really stretch my heel down without fighting the boot or the chap. On a sidenote about the chap - look at the sizing chart! I took my measurements and the chaps fit perfectly.
The styling on the boot is just plain cool. The head trainer at my barn thought they were a bit funny, but she is a traditionalist. I love that Ariat is coming out with some forward designs and incorporating technology into the fit. Can't wait to see how these boots hold up in the long haul."

"I usually wear roper style boots but needed something not so tall with my new saddle. My fenders kept catching on the top of my boot. These are very comfortable and exactly what I needed. Seemed a little snug in the width but gave just enough after one wearing to be just right. I LOVE the sole. It has just enough stick to the stirrup that I feel my foot and the stirrup doesn't slde out from under my foot. It's a very safe and secure feel. Got the scarlet but will be ordering a pair in the pearl. Pricey, but I have sensitive, hard to fit feet and they are well worth the money!"

"I love Ariat paddock boots. I was excited to get the Volants because I love the technology that goes into Ariat boots and shoes, and these boots seemed to be taking it to a new level. They fit well and were very comfortable, but they are not as tall as conventional boots and as a result have less support in the ankle. Conventional half-chaps do not fit well over the Volants so I ordered the half-chaps that are made for them after being measured by an Ariat representative at a tack shop. Sadly, the chaps have a back zipper that begins at the bottom - the absolute hardest type of zipper to use, especially if you have arthritis in your hands. I absolutely could not get them on without help so I'm returning both the chaps and the boots. They look well made and durable but I only give them 3 stars for the lack of ankle support and the difficulty in putting on the chaps."

"I have always bought the Ariat Heritage paddock boot in the past. I wear them every day, 365 days a year out in the barn and I go through at least a pair a year. The comfort of the Volant footbed is what caught my attention, and indeed it is very comfortable. However... they are so stiff it is like putting on a boot of iron. The heel area is big and my heel slides up and down, causing friction. The boot does not come up high enough to give ankle support. The worst part? Due to the width of the boot at the ankle (with the zipper and the thick velcro cover) there is NO WAY you can wear these with anything but old, over-stretched half chaps. And forget about the Volant half chaps; unless your ankle is as wide as your calf, they don't fit well, and they are stiffer than a new pair of dress boots. I am going back to the Heritage for sure. Save your money and avoid these!"

"I have been looking for a boot that would fit like a Nike, but have the riding quality of a paddock boot! This is definitely the right fit! While the boot does require a little breaking in, unless your heal is tougher than mine, the foot bed makes me want to wear it every day. It is definitely comfortable to walk in all day, but it is also extremely secure in the stirrup too!
I would recommend this boot to anyone who has to ride and walk all day as a trainer or coach does."
