My horse didn't really like the taste, not sure if he wasted more than he ate. His coat was shiny but he is also blanketed and in a barn every day. I would probably try again.

I was skeptical about getting results that were claimed. But my horse looks great, his coat is shiny, his eyes are bright, and he is somewhat darker after 40 days or so. He didn't like it at first and would turn his feedpan upside down. I would suggest starting out with a small amount and increase gradually.

As much as I wished I could get my horse to eat this (I've heard raves from others), my horse completely refused to eat his feed with this in it. As a result, can't rate it's efficacy. Hoping for a pellet form, but will have to defer until then.

My bay Arabian gelding has recently finished sheding his winter coat. He has been on Smart Dark and Hansom for about six weeks and if anything his "socks" are browner and his new mane hair is coming in brown, not black. The SmartPak may not yet be taking effect. We will give it another month or two and see if he darkens. Until that time, I can't recommend for or against this product. We have a half brother to him that is a dark bay without benefit of the SmartPak so we have a means to evaluate progress.
He didn't like the palatability for the first three days. Now eats his feed without hesitation and others in the herd have been sampling it.

We had our AQHA gelding on this for a month and half,no change was really noticed. I did went back to using black oil sunflower seeds and noticed a large change in the same amount of time.. Just not worth it to me.

I bought this for my chestnut gelding even though it's more meant for bay and black horses, I was hoping that it would improve the health of his skin thus preventing a fungus he had last year. Well not only his skin shinier but his coat has gone from a dull orange-ish brown color to a deep rich red! Multiple people from my barn have come up to me saying that they didn't realize he was so red before. I was worried that my horse wouldn't eat the supplement but he actually licks it out of the bowl!

My horse is not a very picky eater....or so I thought...so when I heard all the reviews saying that people had troubles with their horses not eating it...I thought it wouldn't really apply to me and my horse. So, I bought the supplement anyway. And when I got it, I just gave it to my horse dry in his grain. And he was not having any of it! He just tipped the grain pan over and skipped his meal. I really thought he would NEVER skip his meal because grain time is his favorite time of the day! But no....not that day! So I asked my trainer about what I could do. She said that she usually just mixes the supplement with water into a paste form for her picky eaters. So, I tried it. But....my horse outsmarted me and just avoided it and ate the rest of the grain. So then I tried just diluting it with a lot of water. ( about 1 and a 1/2 cups ) he gets 3 scoops of grain, so I just gave him one scoop, put a third of the supplement mixture in, and then mixed it in with the grain. I did this with the other two scoops, mixing it together until all the mixture was all used. And then.....my horse ate every last bite! He was licking the grain pan by the time he had finished! I am so happy I found a way to make him eat it! I'm just posting this review so I can share my approach to other people. He's been on the supplement for about 2 weeks now....but I haven't noticed any color change yet. I have noticed a difference in the quality of his coat though! It's so much shinier! I will check in again once I see some results.

I bought this for my chestnut TB gelding a few weeks ago even though he's not a color they recommend this for, but I hoped it would keep his skin healthier. Despite being shedding season, he's now really shiny and his coat has turned from a more orange-ish brown color to a deep rich red. A couple people at my barn commented that they didn't realize he was such a red color before!

This really helped my filly with her dry flaky skin but her color wasn't affected much. That may be because she still has her winter woollies.

I have a buckskin who typically fades to grey in the fall/winter. I put him on Smart, Dark & Handsome in September and what do you know? He stayed as dark as caramel. Don't know why it worked but it did!

One year ago, i got a Ottb rescue, typical TB with poor coat quality, come summer i decided he needed something from living outside he bleached from his lovely red/ dark bay color to a blond buckskin color, as well as he became very patchy/ rubbing hair off easily, within a few weeks of using this product his skin became A LOT healthier, his coat shiny and gorgeous. His skin cleared up and a healthy coat came in as well. I get compliments everywhere i go on his coat and how soft it is, grooming also has become easier since the coat is super healthy, will use this product all spring/summer every year to keep him looking his best!

My light chestnut filly's coat faded badly and got very brassy over the summer and I asked Smartpak what might help her coat. They suggested Smart Dark and Handsome even though she was a chestnut. So I tried it to see what happened with her winter coat as it grew in and unbelievably her winter coat is a deep red rich color. She is a picky eater and has seasonal allergies but she ate it right up and did not get itchy. I am so pleased with her color. We get no sun in the cold north winter but I will put her back on it this spring when she starts shedding and hopefully she will not get brassy this year.

not only do i have to mix molassesWELL into his feed, AND add some senior feed to get him to even try to eat it, but it still takes him over a half hour to eat his one and a half scoops of feed!!! NONE of the other horses push him off of hi feed becusae they hate the paprika taste too. and after just one month no results. just not worth the money.

Great results for my horse, I body clipped him last year late winter and being on day turnout he bleached out pretty quickly. I saw this product and decided to try it. It made the biggest difference in his coat, I had him on it all the way to mid summer and he was dark and dappley. This year I am putting him on it again but this time before I body clip! I always recomend it to friends. Can't wait to see the results!!

I purchased my first horse in March and he was solid black. During the summer, his coat turned colors -- not really washed out -- just changed to a little brown, a little red and even a slight buckskin. He was still handsome just not black any longer. I started giving him SmartDark & Handsome in the middle of September. He is now jet black with a soft, shiny healthy coat. Everyone who sees him compliments me on his coat and asks how I get such a beautiful shine! He also loves the taste. All I do is sprinkle the supplement onto his grain and he devours it.

I fed this to my faded chestnut mare and saw results within about three weeks. Even the tips of her mane, which had faded to a red-orange have turned dark.
