"I got this helmet because I needed to replace my GPA and wanted to try a Charles Owen. I do not look good in the GR8 but this helmet I do. The low profile fit is similar to GPA. I don't know about the durability, the "leather" on the visor has already been marked from me adjusting the helmet by the visor and I've only had it for a couple months. So I'll have to see how it holds up."

"For a while I couldn't decide which Charles Owen to buy. I needed a nice show helmet. And you know how it is, with the standard "equestrian" look. There's not much room to stray from the black helmet, black show coat, white show shirt, tan jodhpurs, and black tall boots.
I must say, up close, this helmet is not attractive at all. What really got me is the look from farther away. It is very professional looking and most definitely stands out. As far as I've seen, SmartPak is the only place that carries the leather-look in the US. All of the others are across the pond. Took about a month for it to be shipped to me (said it was going to take two months), so I was pleasantly surprised when it came.
Definitely a nice spin from the usual velvet Charles Owens. Looks good, dirt and stuff doesn't stick to the surface, easy to clean, comfortable like all the others. A wonderful purchase!"

"I first saw this helmet at my local tack shop. I immediately fell in love. I currently have the Charles Owens AYR8 because I have a rounder head, and don't fit into the other Charles Owens. I have the classic black one, but when i saw this leather one i was amazed. It's so smooth, and dirt will not stick to it. you could brush it off right away with a wet cloth, and to test it out, i used my nails and scratched it in the store, and no marks showed up on the helmet. truly Phenomenal. it's a must have."
