"I bought this Amigo 100gm 1200 D blanket to replace a Rambo that lasted 9 years. I love all Horseware products because they are easy to put on (no leg straps needed), they stay on, and they last for a long time. These do run a little big compared to other brands. I think the four stars for durability would be five if the alpha horse in my herd didn't have razor sharp teeth."

"I have used Horseware blankets for years, but really like the quality and value of the Amigo 1200D! An excellent blanket for about $150 is exceptional! It runs a little large, which is great so it's not tight on my horses who are a little chunky, but it doesn't hang on the thinner ones either. The quality that I like most that I haven't found in other blankets is it's breathability. This time of year it gets quite cold at night, but can get a little warm late in the afternoon. It's a hassle to take the blankets off all the horses for two or three hours and have to put them back on. But with the Amigo, they don't overheat or sweat. I've used four other brands of good blankets, but the horses always sweat in those if the temperature gets above the mid 50's for a couple hours."

"My Arabian ripped his previous SmartPak blanket, so I had to rush and order him a new one because winter temperatures and weather still have not left this area yet. I decided on this one (mostly because the previous blanket he had was not expected to be back in stock until the summer), but this only had a higher denier quality, and I was hoping it would stand up to my Arabian's love for playing in the field. Two days ago he ripped this blanket as well, and I have only had it for about 18 days. He also has not worn it that often because there was a warm spell that came through. The rip is not too bad, and it can be patched, but I am not impressed given that he did not wear it that much, and there is already a sizeable hole down the side. In Amigo's defense, my Arabian is 3 and still in his playful/nosey stage, but I'd expect a 1200D blanket to last more than 18 days with even less days being worn and exposed to pasture play and weather. I will not be ordering a new one because warm weather should be coming soon, but I guess maybe I should try the blanket with the SmartPak 10 year indestructible guarantee. On a positive note, the blanket did fit very well. I got the black and red with his name embroidered on it. It looks very striking, especially with his red plaid halter. The blanket is a bit long on him, but it is a horrible fit. He is the same size as my pony, but about 3 or 4 inches taller, so it's hard to find something that is 100% perfect."

"My warmblood mare has worn the medium weight version of this blanket through two winters so far and the blanket is still in perfect condition, with the exception of the velcro in the front that stopped closing well during the first winter of use. My horse measured for a size 75" and the fit is really great. I love that the blanket doesn't rub her shoulders and I never worry about it being out of place after she rolls. Having had Rambo blankets in the past, I can say that the materials used for the Amigo blankets don't seem to be quite as nice but with such a considerably lower price tag it's really one of the best blankets available."

"Great fit! I have a 14.3 Arabian who is hard to blanket due to his size. I am pleased with the fit of this blanket. I wish there was an option of purchasing this blanket without the metal rings around the neck for an attachable hood. Overall, happy with the blanket."

"This is the second Amigo sheet I have owned, and also own a blanket. I LOVE them. My boy rolls in them multiple times a day, and in as messy a spot as he can find. The old sheet is 4+ years old and finally has a couple of rips in the lining, but nothing on the outside and is still waterproof. It rights itself every time. I have the hood to this as well and unless the rain blows really hard at the right angle the only parts that get wet are his face and his legs. The fit at the shoulders is great!"

"I bought this sheet for my percheron/iberian cross mare. The Amigo sheets fit her better than any others I've tried. The neck opening and shoulders fit well, don't rub, and the blanket stays in place very well. However, since she gets a lot of her blanket-measurement inches from her width, the spine length ends up being too long. This means that the tail flap and tail strap sit too low and catch manure on her legs. The vinyl-covered bungee replacement tail cord helps with this. (she measures 83" ctr chest to ctr tail, but is only 15.2hh). In all, unless I decide to make her a custom sheet, I'll keep buying this one!"

"This blanket is great, awesome quality and very durable! I bought a 69" for my 14.2h big bodied pony and the only complaint I have is that it is an inch too short in length but that might be because my pony has a big rear! Overall I love this blanket!!"

"This is the only blanket I have owned that truely stays in place. It is also completely water tight. Rain or snow does not migrate inside. The mid weight is perfect for late fall through mid spring, here in north eastern Washington state.
I am hopeful that the liner on this one wears better than the previous one. So far, so good, one month later.

"This is my second Amigo 1200D Bravo Turnout. I still am using my first blanket and neck rug that are
3 years old and still waterproof! It is longer on the sides, so it keeps ponies nice and dry almost to knees. I wish it had shoulder gussets and would also like leg straps instead of a tail cord. Mares make tail cords messy. Still a great blanket. I will by another when I need to!

"I purchased this turnout because it was one of the only no fill options I could find that included a hood. My horse lives outside on pasture 24/7 and her new barn does not have the 3-sided shelters like her old one did, so I wanted her to have more protection from the elements. This blanket is slightly too short from front to back, however the next size up was much much too big!
I was disappointed because this blanket was ripped within a month of wear. My horse is not hard on blankets, but one of her pasture mates must have torn it. Since the blanket was so new I had it patched, however I was frustrated that it got torn so soon! My older weatherbeeta's (same denier--1200), lasted years before getting torn.
Another aspect that I did not like about this blanket was that the belly straps did not lengthen enough for me to layer her medium weight blanket underneath it. I have never had a problem layering blankets previously.
Despite the downsides there are several things that I do like about this blanket. I like the way it fits through the shoulders and does not rub. I also like that it stays snug and does not shift, despite the fact that there is only a tail strap behind and not hind leg straps. The front closure is very convenient and I love the way the hood attaches to the blanket. It is both easy to do and seems to be very protective from the weather because it is snug to the blanket. I also think that the hood fits perfectly.
At first I was disappointed that I could not find a blanket in purple--however the brown is great because it does not show the dirt!
Overall, I would probably buy a weatherbeeta the next time I am blanket shopping.

"The Amigo Bravo 12 and its more expensive cousin the Rambo allow liners at 100, 200, 300, and 400 grams. The system works incredibly well (though at 400grams the bulk of the liner might require a size larger blanket). The Amigo is very sturdy (1200 d) and the front leg articulation is really nice...I'm actually preferring this style to the Wetherbeeta Orican Freestyle pleat. NOTE though that the Amigo is NOT a rip stop fabric. So far that has not been an issue but from the light teeth marks I'm seeing on the blanket, I do think it might be important to note for folks who have horses hard on blankets or rough pasture mates.
I use the no-fill turnout as a rain sheet, add the 100 gram liner for chilly nights (teens to 20) when my horse doesn't have a thick coat. When this winter came I shifted to a 220 gram blanket for 0 to 12 F, and then went back to the Amigo with the 300 gram liner for negative temperatures. I like this liner so much, I think for next winter I'll buy another and a 200 fill liner.
BTW, the liners attach to the blanket at the neck and with two snaps at back of blanket/hindquarters. The liner has a velcro front closure, no belly straps. It does NOT slip...really excellent. A lot of versatility with this layering system. Fantastic for cold climates."

"My horse is a bit in between sizes--an 82 can look small and an 84 slightly big. I went with the 84 since he is three and still growing, and within the first wear he had it over his head. I think there just needs to be leg straps... really disappointed, and I don't want to put it back on him.
It is sharp looking, and a great weight (I got the lite, 100g fill) for those in between days."

"The material of the sheet is excellent. However, I am not happy with the fit at the shoulders/neck or the closure at the chest. The chest lacks a velcro closure leaving the 2 straps at the chest to dig in while the sheet has a tendency to slide back. Never had this trouble before with any other brands of blankets or sheets I have used ( All styles of Horsewares, Weatherbeeta). I thought I would like to try a Smartpak sheet or blanket but disappointed."

"So I finally bucked up and spent good money on a turnout. After EXTENSIVE research I decided on this one for a few reasons. First it was the ONLY one I could find that also had a neck cover with NO FILL (I live in Hawaii so definitely don't need any fill!) also I LOVE how the neck piece attaches, I am so sick of the other kind that gap between the neck and shoulder subsequently I end up with a muddy mane and neck! The quality is EXCELLENT as is the waterproofing. It will get a tad warm for my horse (again cause of our tropical climate) but I remove it in early morning when he goes in his stall. This is an excellent option for our rainy season as my horse is very sensitive to rain rot. Thankfully I took the advice of other reviews and ordered down a size as it runs BIG. My horse measured at an 84" so I ordered an 81" and it is plenty roomy still! I am VERY happy with this purchase and have already purchased the Rambo Protector for flies! I think I am now a Rambo groupie!"

"I have had this blanket for a few months now and I couldn't be happier with it! It's durability is amazing it is worth ever penny! My mare with roll in it several times a day. Play roughly with the other horses and even rub it against our wire fence. No wear or tears have yet to show up! And with our cold weather she has practically lived in it for the past weeks! It is also very comfortable I was tempted to sleep in it :)
Over all very durable, amazing quality, and worth the price!
