The Better Bucket
Double L's Better Bucket is an ergonomic feeder that is excellent for horses, cattle, and other livestock. The Better Bucket's angular design better accommodates the animal's facial structure, allowing a more natural eating manner for your animal. Due to the Better Buckets tapered sides, the feed funnels toward the back of the bucket making feed and grain more accessible and reduces animal behavioral problems. Its flat-back provides stability against a wall or fence. The Better Bucket also fits in a corner or on a flat wall with either a traditional wall bracket or snap hook to hang your better bucket.The Better Bucket is?made of durable, impact resistant, high-density polyethylene with smooth, finished edges and a heavy duty handle.

"This is a super feed bucket. Plenty of room for the big head of a draft cross mare. The design is great. Not sure I would use it as a water bucket--the angled design would make it way too easy to slosh water out of, or dump all over your pristine (ha ha) barn shoes."

"everything you read about this bucket is true, so great idea ... however, ergonomically it is VERY prone to tipping over since the front "design" idea is weighted awkwardly ... if you plan on moistened hay cubes, anything liquid, or even rinsing / carrying / setting down this bucket, consider the draw backs as it almost never sits squarely on its base without some careful positioning"

"I loved the idea of a bucket my horse could actually get his head into to get the grain at the bottom of the bucket without scarring up his beautiful head! So for such a reasonable price, I thought I'd give it a try ... and it does work! Now my guy can get down to the last pellet without getting the bucket stuck on his face and chaffing the hair off! It seems to be made of very solid materials - I've had it for a month, and it's been COLD here and the bucket is the same as when I first hung it up (outside in all weather) I poke holes in my feed buckets so water doesn't accumulate - and now it's the PERFECT feed bucket! I bought the bigger one (it's BIG) - but I'm glad I did even though I only feed a little grain because it's super roomy for his head - and he's happy to get all of his feed down to the last pellet!"

"Great bucket but cumbersome to wield. The large size is too big for a grain bucket unless you have a draft horse. I have a TWH with a big head (we don't say that in front of her) and she gets frustrated with the size of the fortflex bucket to the point where she slings it in the air and eats from the ground. I returned these and found the smaller size at my local feed store. Thee smaller ones are still not as sturdy as fortiflex, but make my mare much happier. The bucket design is a good one but the large size is superfluous as it is too big for a feed bucket and too tipsy as a water bucket unless it is hung from the stall at all times. Smartpak, would you consider carrying the smaller bucket?"

"Spacious, thick, sturdy looking bucket. But the bucket lip (that hangs onto the mounted wall bucket holder) broke within 1 day. My horse's last bucket was too small, and she put more force on it than she did on this big one, in order to lick all the grain out; still, it lasted for 3 years before cracking. Now this new bucket just hangs from the handle, and although it is still better than her old bucket, we have lost the steadiness and easy access angle that the bucket holder provided when the bucket lip was intact (on day 1). <sigh>"

"My draft cross, Magnum, has a big head and he was always banging his old bucket around at feeding time. His barn mate, Cookie, is a Haflinger and she also has a larger head and she loves her new bucket, too! The horses don't seem to fuss while I am adding their feed anymore and the buckets are just like new after using them a month. I like this idea, just wish I had thought of it!"

"This bucket comes in two sizes. Smartpak only carries the very large one. I thought having such a large bucket in my horse's stall would be a problem (pooping in it), but so far - no problems. This bucket's smooth surface is very easy to clean and my horse doesn't spill any of his grain. I am happy with it <But maybe a wee bit smaller>."

"I love the design of the bucket. However, the horses have managed to split the back in half as they bang it around eating, and I have only used them a few months. I recommend the manufacturer of the product reinforce the back piece with thicker plastic. If they would do that, then this is the only bucket I would have at the barn."

"2 of my 3 horses have a better bucket... My Hanoverian loves his and is much more comfortable eating now and no longer bangs his bucket around. What's interesting about this bucket is that my quarter horse (who has cribbed all his life) has gone through about 20+ water buckets in the past 3 or 4 years because he will crib on the edge of them with no mercy and they will crack and break so I got him a Better Bucket about 3 months ago to use as a water bucket and it looks brand new still even tho he still tries to crib on it he hasnt caused ANY damage to it. His stall stays dryer too because it is a little more difficult for him to crib on so he doesnt spill nearly as much water all over."

"I have not seen this type of a bucket anywhere else. It not only makes it easier for the forse to eat--it also makes it harder for the horse to waste feed. I started looking for a different feed bucket for that reason--too much spilled feed. This bucket has eliminated the problem and I think my horse appreciates the new ergonomic shape."
