Question

What is the difference between Smart Digest, and Smart Digest Ultra

Is the only difference the colic insurance guarantee? Or are there different ingredients in the two products?

Thanks for your question. SmartDigest provides basic support from probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes. SmartDigest Ultra provides higher levels of these ingredients, plus Kaolin, L-Glutamine, Enzase-EQ™ and Oat Beta Glucan for more comprehensive hindgut support. Only horses fed SmartDigest Ultra or SmartCombo Ultra are eligible for ColiCare, our colic surgery reimbursement program.

Question

Why does this product contain artificial flavors?

Due to health issues with my horse, I carefully monitor her feed intake. I am looking into switching from individualized supplements to smartpaks. I liked everything I read about this until I got down to "natural and artificial flavors." I don't see that on any of the other supplments I'm considering.

Thank you for your question. SmartDigest contains a proprietary blend of flavorings that has been designed for optimal palatability, using as little artificial flavoring as possible. Therefore, the amount of artificial flavoring in this supplement is negligible. However, if your mare has specific allergies or health issues, we recommend that you contact your veterinarian before making changes to her diet.

Question

At a show, my Smart Digest supplement tub got left in a storage box that was in the sun all day. Did I just kill all the beneficial organisms?

Thanks for your question. Although some of the probiotics may have been damaged by excessive heat, this supplement also contains prebiotics and enzymes that help support healthy digestion. In the future, we recommend always storing your supplements in a cool, dry location.
