I ordered mine from a different tack store, but I believe the Rambo Micklem competition bridle always comes with rubber reins in the same color as the bridle. Mine did - see photo.

Question

sizing

I read some reviews that said this bridle ran small. My horse is just under 16h. A regular bridle fits her but the throat latch can be too tight. Would you recommend buying the largest size?
Looking for something to help keep my horse round.

Thanks for your question. Several riders have noted in their reviews that the Micklem Competition Bridle has run a little bit small on their horses. The horse size bridle should fit 14.2 hand horses with large heads up to 16.3 hand horses with more refind heads, while the large horse size fits 16.2 hand horses with large heads and taller horses. We'd suggest trying the horse size for your mare if she is just under 16 hands. If you discover that size just won't work, we do offer free returns on all sized items so that you can send it back to us for an exchange at no cost to you!

This bridle definitely runs small - my 16 h horse usually wears a cob, I bought him the Horse size and it's on some of last holes, however, I am also using it on a 17.2 H horse and it fits him fine - the throat latch is very different on this bridle, so that shouldn't be a problem. It's very adjustable. I think probably the same size as usual will work.

This bridle is great to invite your horse "into the bridle". I found after a year, my horse "graduated", though, and started actually pulling, so I've switched back to a regular bridle. This bride was a HUGE breakthrough for him though. Would definitely recommend for horses who are having trouble finding the bit.

Yeah it should be fine. You may need a leather punch to add a hole, but it's not terribly small.

I personally would go a size up, the normal horse size fits my petite faced cob very well except for the cheek piece, it was way too tight, I had to punch two more holes in it. Another lady at my barn ordered the same bridle for her 16 hand appendix, and the cheek piece was also way too tight.

answer 5
My WB mare has always worn a regular horse size bridle, and the regular horse size in the Micklem fit her well. None of the straps were too short. I don't know if they might be cutting the straps longer after initial complaints, or if some horses just have wide jaws that don't factor in so much with regular style bridles as they would with this one. But that was my experience.

Thanks for your question. The Micklem Competition Bridle is FEI approved, so should be ok for most dressage competitions. That being said, we do recommend referencing the tack and equipment rules for any organizations under which you may compete for the best information.
