Question
Would this work well if you're trying to keep a young grey (5 yo) from bleaching in the summer?
My gelding goes from being a beautiful dark dappled grey, to as white as my old horse-- who was 20 years old in a short few months. I would like to keep his dark color for the summer showing season so you can actually see his socks, will this work for him? Or is the product directed towards just the 'darker' horses, like bays, blacks, chestnuts, etc?
When should I start it on him? Just going into the summer season? May, April?
Note: Due to bleaching the tips of his mane turned a shocking burnt orange color, it looks like he dip dyed them. ):

Thanks for your question. Although SmartDark & Handsome is designed to help support dark, beautiful color in bay, black, and brown coats, some customers have also used it successfully for dapple gray horses like yours. To help avoid sun-bleaching, you might also consider using a fly sheet with UV protection, such as the Kensington Protective Sheet, and/or a topical coat spray that contains UV ingredients, such as Tri Tec 14 Fly Spray.

I tried this on my sooty-buckskin---hoping to keep his dark points & dapples dark while his lighter color came thru-unfortunatly he would not eat it (ask to try a sample first) so I fed it to my bay TB---it did keep her black points black, but not really sure how it would work on a grey. I think it would be worth a try-I would start it in April.

My experience tells me that these products are not effective against harse sun exposure such as in the southern states. I accept my horse the way he looks and supplement him with pure flax seeds daily to gloss his coat up the best I can. He is bay and the bottem 6 inches of his tail are blond. I don't worry aboutit any more!
